I consulted with my friend from the car dealership and he expresses doubts that in 11 years the car has traveled only 48,000 miles, he thinks that there is a possibility that the odometer was rolled back

Looks to me like maybe it was driven off-road a bunch. Hard to explain the heavy scratches on the badging or the underside otherwise. That could explain the low miles. Also the rusted brake rotors suggest it's been sitting for a good while.

The 120 miles showing is probably because the battery was disconnected. The actual range is more likely to be 75-85 miles.

Absolutely don't buy it without checking the speed sensor for moisture and signs of corrosion.

1. Was the speed sensor checked?

2. Does Cabin Heater work?
3. Possible Sport Mode?

4. Coolant level in reservoirs?

5. Does the HV battery get charged?

6. Weird sounds?

Our 2013 Rav4EV and the one we sold a couple of months ago had fewer than 46k miles and the one we have kept is gaining 24 miles per month as of late. We are the second owners of both, although a non-owner of the one taken by webuyanycar.com, making someone else the third owner.

Our new Volvo XC40 Recharge is building mileage at about a hundred miles per month, which should result in even fewer miles over the next decade. We believe this is the last motor vehicle we will purchase.

I didn't think one could roll back an electronic odometer, especially one associated with a mix of Tesla and Toyota.

The cabin heater works and there are no strange sounds. I have not checked the rest. How long does it take to check the speed sensor? I am not sure if the car dealer will allow it. They refused to give me the car for 2-3 days so that I could check the battery capacity

If you have contact information of a person who could come with me to the car dealer and check the car?

Alex's excellent video covering how to check the LDU speed sensor for the presence of coolant:

He demonstrates with the underbody cover removed, but this is not necessary.

You can R&R the sensor with the RF tire on, but there's a whole lot more room if you take the wheel off, IMO.

As I understand, for a mechanic with average skills this job will not take more than 20 minutes. I'm almost sure that the charging capability, SOH and the state of the speed sensor should be performed by the seller. Otherwise it is selling a cat with an unknown state in a sealed bag.

This further increases the risks of buying this vehicle.
A decent seller has nothing to hide.
Results of other simple checks?
The last 4 digits of the VIN of this car?

I was able to check the sensor on my 2012 RAV4 at the used car dealer by turning the wheel to the right and taking the cover off like Alex shows in the video and it was DRY so I bought the suv on the spot😊

VIN: 2T3YL4DV9DW001706

A friend of mine who works at a dealership did some kind of check and all he could say was that he wasn't sure about the mileage figures.

That would depend on where the dealer is located. Perhaps you could update your Profile on this forum to supply that info.

All I can know for free is that that VIN has not been listed as stolen or totaled (via https://www.nicb.org/vincheck) but that is probably only useful for the US and other countries that participate in that data sharing platform.

When I registered my blue RAV4 EV with Toyota years ago, I was able to see its entire repair history with Toyota while under their care. You probably can't take advantage of that, and of course most Toyota records are going to end at the termination of the warranty term(s).

This place is located in Santa Ana, CA 92703. If you have any contacts, please write them to me. Thank you!

The vehicle mileage appears correct/accurate; see the service history for this VIN below. However if the photos shown above are current, it is *extremely suspect* that the vehicle has only been driven a total of 16 miles in the last 13 months.
