This happened recently here in Camarillo at the outlet mall

Volt blocking an EVGO quickcharger spot that it can not use

It is only Chademo and Combo charging there. No L2.
And yet I see Volts, Prius, Cmax, and Tesla parked there.
Might as well leave an electric car parked in front of a gas pump for hours! ;-)
This happens EVERYWHERE and is a perfect opportunity to put one of those Blink card / messages on their windshield. I do it all the time and carry them with me.

PHEV owners can be just as mindless as ICE'ers. -_-

I found this interested thread on mynissanleaf.com and an article from back in 2011 that explain why Costco decided to remove the EV Charging stations instead of upgrading them to J1772 style units. It looks like they were one of the first retailers to support EV's, but after they got burned by installing a style of charging station that became obsolete they decided to no longer support EV's. See the links below.

It's really a shame that the old stations were not upgraded and they were just torn out.

Well Fry's is finally removing all the old paddle and AVCON units and replacing them with Chargepoint dual head units. Whenever I went to the Burbank store I'd always park in the spots and now yesterday there's the new unit almost ready to go!

Free, just like SantaMonica.. just swipe to activate.

Prob some dumbass Volt employee will park in them all day long like at the Northridge mall

P.S. Yes, guy is a jewelry store employee and leaves his Volt there ALL DAY long on the one clipper creek.

I was on Maui last week, and the Costco in Kahului (near the airport) has installed a single L2 charger. According to a worker, it was installed in February. The first time I was there, the spot was vacant (quite an achievement as the lot was packed). I almost pulled in until I realized that my rental car was an ICE. The next time, there was a PiP in the spot and it was plugged in.
