If it happens, I cannot stop from imagining supercharge station have long line likes Costco gas station. Except now the wait will be few hours inline.
Imagine you are the owner of a model S & you think you can make a quick 1/2 hr stop for 80% charge during your trip from SF to La. When you pull in to the station, you found that all superchargers are occupied with leafs & you see a Mitsubishi miev just pull in & begin charge. It will be staying there for 5 hours because it has a 3.3kWhon board charger to charge its 16kWh (pretty sure a $20k car (after fed rebate) is not going to upgrade with two 10kWh onboard charge which cost $3k a pop let alone the proposed additional charging cost for life on top of the price tag).
I don't think that will fly with current & future tesla owner.
Increasing use will in crease wear & tear! I just met a model s owner who have to unplug my RAV4 in Carmel because he just make a come back trip from LA-Bay Area & he is short on juice on his trip. He told me that not all supercharger station are operational 100% free of trouble. Some of them are down & he have to wait for a repair @ one charging point of his trip.
