Broken down again (traction battery fuse replaced)

I assume the fuse is after the main contactor so not 400 volts to contend with.

    Torque Limiter & Traction Issues

Go a little easy as you stomp on it. You can turn traction control off. Can also enter a diagnostic mode to give unrestrained full power to the motor. But no real system to limit torque except after the fact. Could always get better tires or turn the sport mode off....

    maximum charge amperage on 120vac?

20 amps max at 120 volts. OEM charge cord is only 12 amps.

Tesla model S with 200k miles: 6% battery loss

From the article: "Then, just as the car hit 200,000 miles, the range estimator became inaccurate. Though the car didn’t actually lose any range, the estimator would say it could go another ten miles—and then power down. Tesla looked into the issue, and told Tesloop that there’s a battery...

Just bought a 2014 RAV 4 EV! Santa Monica, CA

Costa Mesa and Irvine for sure as I have been to both. Certified for EV seems to be more of a safety issue. They do not really know what they are doing around the EV systems. Anything remotely difficult they are on the phone with a Toyota and Tesla engineer. That is my perception. Most will...

Is my car over-charging the battery?

11.7 sounds normal to me. That first bar seems to hold a bit more than the rest.

    Charge rate throttling

Do you not have net metering for your solar? About the same in the end. Do you have TOU rates available? This works well to sell high during the day and charge the vehicle at low night rates. Otherwise you need to get an EVSE where the amps can be reduced or a second low amp EVSE for during...

Broken down again (traction battery fuse replaced)

Do you still have a warranty?

    Using a leaf charger

Far better to just get what you need than to fiddle with this trying to save money because you won't.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Yes that is true. The only repeat issue I keep hearing is the transmission noise. The rest seems to get fixed and stay fixed. Warranty may say 8yr 120k but half that is already covered.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Paperwork says Gateway ECU replaced. Only drove it home and the displays work perfectly again. I believe this would be covered under the 60/60 drive train warranty. Kills me to buy the extended warranty just to get 36 months and possibly about 60k extra miles. I suppose it will be easier to...

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Dealer says they talk with Toyota engineer (via phone?) to assist in the diagnosis and get approval for warranty repair. I have no idea what was tested or the results. Customers don't really get to talk with the technician. I did give the service writer my findings.... again. Will see what the...

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Dealer is replacing an ECU today. Should be ready on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

It is fuse #9, G/W-B 10A Multiplex communication system. When pulled first this drops about 500 milliamps. (I speculate this draw could be normal) Next is fuse #10, RADIO 30A Audio system. When this fuse is pulled next... current drops to virtually zero. (this has to be wrong) When these are...

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Picked up the car today. All Irvine Toyota could do is replace the 12v battery one more time  Just measured the vehicle draw after parked 30 minutes. Same 2 amp draw. I assume it will be back on the tow truck next week. Should I call someone at Toyota? Who do I talk to?

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Was in the shop all last week with no resolution. Claimed to have replaced the 12v battery again and an unidentified circuit board. Really expecting some progress this next week.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

On the truck this morning to Irvine Toyota. Service guy says he is going to open a ticket with Toyota. I assume that means a better trained technician will pop in to look at it. Fingers crossed. This episode will probably push me into an extended warranty.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

That is the plan. Just not geared up as my extra vehicle is loaned out this week. No loaners around with all the Toyota recalls. 3,000 miles left on the warranty.

Leviton 40 amp charger; how to program for EV rates

If the timer is set.... plug in the car right after you turn it off and get back in and the center console will update the exact start time based on your EVSE rating. You can then adjust the end time manually to start when desired. Although I believe if the EVSE rating is 20 amps or less the car...
