Hi Y'all-
I've read the forum for a long time but never registered. Thanks for the education over the years.
I am the original owner of a '14 Rav4 EV (last 4 VIN 2465), it has about 104k. Range varies with the ambient temperature, we get a little cold in the Sierra Foothills. GOM 70ish in summer, 50ish in winter.
Considering selling as my children are grown and we don't really need 3 EVs at home any more, plus somehow, the insurance for the Rav4 EV is more $ than our Tesla MY or Polestar2 (just barely, but it is 11 yrs old!).
The car has been our daily driver til the newest EV recently, people are still surprised to see it around town and those who ride in it are shocked at how fun it is. Great errand vehicle for my projects. Almost never see any others any more...one I still see up in Truckee and one or two around Sactown.
I have never found any moisture in the speed sensor, only checked maybe 4-5 times over the years, but from what I understand the moisture intrusion is inevitable unless bypass is performed. The vehicle has never been modded except a 2" hitch receiver for bikes, and some body panel work from a fenderbender.
I see some listed for sale at used dealerships and they seem overpriced, and perhaps an unlucky consumer who just thinks a Toyota EV sounds like a good idea could get stuck with one of these if they don't have the interest and patience. If I do sell it, it would be preferable to go to someone who actually understands these vehicles and has the intent to keep it running and avoid the scrap heap.
Anyhow, I am in the Sacramento /Sierra Foothills CA region (Loomis) if someone is interested in this vehicle. Not listing in the Classifieds forum just yet but maybe in the future. Can always say hi and meet for coffee!
Have a great Day.
Rafi
