I am OK with limited traction control in sport mode. When the dash turns red you should be focused on driving and not need additional controls.

I use sport mode most of the time.

I like the added performance and can easily control the acceleration with a lighter touch. The Rav4 EV in sport mode is actually close to the performance of my motorcycles. I seem to get the same range in either mode and I haven't spun the tires yet. Although, maybe I should try that just once ; - )

What motorcycles do you have that can't outperform a RAV EV? Honda Trail 90?

my son discovered teh wheel spin aspect of the Rav4EV all on his own.
I was wondering why the GOM was always reading lower after he drove the car :)

I hadn't used it at all really until recently, and I find now that I like it. The handling seems more "natural". I'm not really a car guy, so I don't know the details, but I like it.

I talked with someone who new some insiders at Tesla. When Toyota representatives test drove the first :D test vehicle for the Rav4EV, they told Tesla your car is too fun to drive and made them reduce the horsepower and torque. Imagine if they had kept it the same as the original test car. :D

My guess is the power reduction is a factor of the smaller pack size and nothing else. The car already has more power than traction on the stock tires. If the car were RWD it could have more power and the FWD config is like already maxed out for the stock components.

I'm hoping that some day there will be custom chips available...like the Dinan chips I got for my 635 csi many years ago. Not holding my breath during the wait, but wanting to keep hope alive.

The pack size is basically the same as in the Tesla Roadster. It has approx. 281 HP.

Sport mode - 530 amps * 360 volts (voltage sag after a full charge) = 190kW = 255hp

Good lord that is a lot of horses :)

Good car for towing.
