The other day I took off and the RAV had lost about 25% of it's ability to accelerate.. Now it takes 12+ seconds on standard mode, to reach 60mph.. 9+ seconds in sport.. May have lost a few miles of range too.. It's been topping off at 88-90 miles for standard charge.. Temperature did recently drop into the high 50s and 60s.. Just reached 50,000 miles... I'm most concerned with the sudden loss of acceleration.. Need help as I am in Washington.. Looking at having to trailer to California.. :((

Toyota can and will provide warranty service to your car in Washington. You may need to be persistent with your dealer, or phone around to find a dealer who will work with you, but it can and has been done before.

We also have one Rav4 EV in Washington state (probably the only one east of the Cascades) and with persistence and help from Kevin Spillane at Toyota USA, Torrance, CA, repairs get done.

Folks have had motors replaced right here in Washington. Take a really deep breath before you have one clueless dealer misinform you.

I had my drive unit replaced at Kirkland Toyota. While they have had their issues, they did manage to work it out with Toyota Corporate to get it done.
Michael's Toyota wont touch it and I don't trust Bob Bridge.

I have seen this before too but only when the car isnt "warmed up" as I call it. Tony could probably enlighten us with a more technical answer but it seems like it doesnt give full power right away as soon as you turn it on. Maybe the battery needs to be brought up or down to temperature before it will give us full amperage and HP to the wheels.

Nothing very technical about it. The battery is limited in power when cold, as it is also limited in regeneration and charging ability.

JdeMO is currently programmed to limit charge speed above 44C and below 6C battery temp.

The Tesla firmware limits regen at 15C battery temp. It's doubtful that there is much change to regular charging, but there is some limit... maybe -10C or so?

The RAV4 EV is equipped with two 6kW heaters; one for the cabin heater and one dedicated to the battery (and other Tesla components that share the same G48 coolant).

If there is a power limit, you'll have to wait for it to warm up... it's just that simple.
