I am the owner RAV4 2001. After problems with the transmission my mechanic told me he think it is the problems with the ECM . I made a search on the internet and found out that this is a very common problem. Dealer propose to replace the ECM but it is money $$$. I also read there are services that offer a repair. Who had such experience?

There is absolutely NOTHING in common with the 2012-2014 Toyota RAV4 EV and your 2001. I assume your car is gasoline, and not electric?

All the "ECM" issues with the EV cars wouldn't apply to yours. If you have a mechanic who can't tell if the problem is a transmission or a control module, PLEASE GET A NEW MECHANIC.
