Looks like there are a few more Chargepoints open on 101 headed towards Eureka

Indeed, those are CEC funded sites from the later Interregional Corridors Grant.

People looking for Tesla Superchargers also found the ChargePoint site at the Stockton Target store just off I-5 and 8 Mile Road to be under construction.

ChargePoint indicates that the fast charger at the Yreka Carl's Jr has been changed to a 50kW dual standard (CHAdeMO + CCS) Express 200 (Veefil) unit. It was previously a 24kW Express 100 CCS-only charger. The Plugshare entry has not been updated yet.

Looks like an EV Connect is about to go live in Blythe.

Sadly, it looks to be CCS only. I thought the CEC required both connectors? Or is this something else?

It is a CEC funded location, so it must be dual standard. Their CEC grant was for 2 DCFC and one Level 2.

Another ChargePoint CEC site on the 101 corridor near the Oregon border is now open in Smith River.

Chargepoint seems to be making more progress installing their Express 200 dual standard fast chargers at their CEC sites.
Plugshare indicates that Weed, Shasta, and Dunsmuir are open on I-5, but only Weed shows up on the Chargepoint web site.

Plugshare - Comfort Inn, Weed, CA
Plugshare - Mt. Shasta Shopping Center, Mt. Shasta, CA
Plugshare - Dunsmuir Yaks, Dunsmuir, CA

Chargepoint still needs to complete Dunnigan and Red Bluff to make this corridor easily traversable in a RAV4 EV with JdeMO. Even those two cities are 95 miles apart.

More progress by Chargepoint on the I-5 corridor, now in the central section. It is at the intersection of I-5 and CA-33 in the city of Gustine. This charger makes traversing the valley from Gilroy on the 101 corridor to Chowchilla / Madera on the 99 corridor much easier. Previously there was only the slow "25kW" unit at Pea Soup Andersen's.

Seems like some of these are Chargepoint's old 25kw CCS stations. Does that mean Chargepoint is going to upgrade their other 25kw stations between Redding and Sacramento? (i.e. Williams / Corning)

The Dunsmuir location has had a 24kW CCS station for a long time. However, it has a separate PlugShare pin at a different address (even though they both reference the Yak's restaurant) and there is a new 50kW dual standard charger installed and pictured at the link I provided. So, all three I linked above are new 50kW dual standard units. ChargePoint Express 200 chargers made by Tritium to be specific.

The Yreka Carl's Jr. location has also been upgraded from 24kW CCS to 50kW dual standard. Comments indicate that the old 24kW charger has been taken offline.

ChargePoint did not get grants to upgrade Williams and Corning to 50kW. However, EVgo did get grants to place chargers at Orland, Willows, Williams, and Dunnigan. ChargePoint also has a Dunnigan location one exit up the highway from the EVgo site.

I am still updating the Google map that I made for these future charging sites and it indicates which ones are open.

Future DC Fast Charge Sites

Looks like Chargepoint has another one open - Red Bluff. The pictures seem to indicate 3 stalls total, though only one is currently working.

With the Electrify America location opening soon in Dunnigan, looks like the Oregon border will be possible along I-5.

Blythe also looks like it is open.

This station is now open. However, it is a single BTC 100 amp charger with CCS and CHAdeMO connectors. There is also a L2 station. It appears to be free at the moment.

Attention JdeMO customers:

We were recently alerted us to a potential problem using JdeMO with CHAdeMO charge stations that are capable of over 125 amps / 50kW. There is a new one that just opened south of San Francisco, California USA (linked below) that can exceed that value.

If your JdeMO equipment was installed or updated between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2018, your JdeMO equipment may charge faster than 125 amps / 50kW on these new high powered CHAdeMO chargers. This issue does NOT affect units before that time.

Thankfully, there is an manual remedy for this. Merely hold the green button WHILE CHARGING for 1 to 2 seconds and then release the button (holding for 3 seconds or more will stop the charge).

This will put the charger in a “half power” mode. Ensure that half power mode does not exceed 125 amps / 50kW before walking away from the vehicle.

Any time that you are using an unfamiliar charger, ensure that it does not exceed 125 amps / 50kW.

Any time that your JdeMO equipment is plugged into a charger, ensure that it does not exceed 125 amps / 50kW.

If you are in doubt as to the actual power going into the JdeMO, stop the charge immediately.

DANGER : Exceeding 125 amps / 50kW could result in property damage, fire, injury or death.

We will offer a complementary software update at our facility sometime in 2019. The updated software will not be ready before that future date in 2019.

That free update is in addition to our free low voltage wiring harness update, which you can have changed out at our shop or exchange it via FedEx / UPS / US Postal Service shipping companies.

Here is the link to the first CHAdeMO charger in the USA over 125 amps / 50kW.

I was thinking about going to up Yosemite, and this one caught my eye:

Looks like it is supposed to be a CEC site, but the pictures are only showing a Level 2 Chargepoint.

That site is supposed to get a ChargePoint fast charger as well.

Looks like Chargepoint is making progress. The Yermo site is now under construction. Bridges the gap to Vegas.
https://www.plugshare.com/location/180082

They also are installing in Klamath
https://www.plugshare.com/location/179059

Also, I know it's not CEC, but Electrify America is starting to make a dent in the charging map, particularly along I-5.

Electrify America seems to have a strong bias towards CCS. Most locations seem to have only one CHAdeMO plug. They are building a site near me in Pismo Beach and it has 4 stations with CCS and only 1 CHAdeMO. So it will be a wait if the CHAdeMO is tied up.

EA also has a 4 station site coming soon in Willows that will help bridge the Vacaville & Sacramento to Redding stretch on the north section of I-5. Red Bluff (ChargePoint) and Dunnigan (EA) are also coming soon to the same stretch.

EA also has sites in development in Stockton and Patterson that fill the gap between Santa Nella and Sacramento so you don't have to detour to Tracy.
