"Download" charging station locations

I've been considering buying a RAV4 EV (it'll be my 3rd EV), but I don't have a smartphone and don't want to get one.

It seems one really important thing that Entune does is provide the vehicle the charging station locations.

When I've looked at the system with the sales person, using Show Charging Stations says something to the effect of "you must download them to see them," the key word being "download."

Does the on-board system save the data? So I could put Entune on my wi-fi iPod touch and download charging stations periodically while connected to my home wi-fi, and therefore have the stations available to me while I'm driving and don't have network access?

The sales people (tried two different dealers) have said no, but they haven't been convincing. Though maybe they were and I just don't want to hear 'no.'

My EVSE has a built-in timer, so I *think* the EVSE locations is the key thing I'd need Entune for.

In my experience, Entunes does not help much. I am biased because I have a blackberry which is only partly compatible with entunes. It does download the charging stations. The download does not seem to have all the available stations that it claims, and it does not include places like RV areas. But I have found that the other online resources like Plugshare provide a much better and more accurate picture of available charging stations. The times I have attempted to use the Entunes charging station app have mostly failed for various reasons.

The bottom line is, I seldom use the charging station app and really don't think you would miss it.
If you really need remote charging capability, which I don't, you can use RAVCharge.

I found found it much better to look up charging stations along the route, with backups, before you go.
