    Portable solar trickle charger

The adapter linked above is specifically NOT for Supercharger access, only for regular AC powered Tesla connections. There is no way to access Superchargers except with a Tesla vehicle. There is security to prevent it.

    Portable solar trickle charger

Not to mention that it takes 16-25 hours to charge one, for which effort you'd be lucky to get 1kWh (3 miles) worth of charge into the RAV's battery after overhead and conversion losses. Besides, it's not THAT hard to find a plug if you really need one.

    Vehicle Service Agreement Towing Limitations

Exactly. It's Toyota's problem if they tow it to a dealer who can't service it.

    Portable solar trickle charger

I would say the prototype would cost you more like $10-12K (and maybe much, much more) as you have custom electronics to build and software to write. There are going to be dicey interactions with how fast the car can dial down current draw when solar output drops...which is why you may have to...

    Strange GOM behavior

Most annoying. I can't get a listing for the Bosch battery off the Pep Boys site. It literally won't show you the part unless you enter in a car model that happens to use it...Grrrrr!

    Portable solar trickle charger

Correct, the J1772 connection is AC. Even if it were DC, you would then need a DC to DC converter that could output the actual voltage range the car's battery needs to charge. You're talking about a complex project no matter how you go at it...for a very marginal utility. The easiest way to do...

    Portable solar trickle charger

Yeah, you're not getting it. The minimum the J1772 standard can handle is 6a @ 120v. The on-board charger is completely unable to deal with the tiny amounts of power you would be able to generate from a portable solar panel. You'd have to do a custom charger connected to the battery directly to...

    My 12V battery died

For $250, I'd say have them do the diagnosis. You have to find out before you can really do anything else. If it's an expensive repair, you can definitely try to get Toyota to cover. I have no idea how likely that might be. If they won't, then you can start fishing for affordable ways to get...

    Rav4 EV test drive question

It's also worth noting that the last round of "fixed" motors actually seem to be fixed and the noise is finally not recurring. I've gone much farther that it took for the noise to show up on my previous two motors, with no sign of the problem happening again. Others, both with the RAV4 and early...

    My 12V battery died

Do you mean they promised one and didn't send it, or that you just deserve one?

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

I drove my JDemo equipped Rav4EV to Berkeley and back last weekend to move my daughter home. I had to take the 99 as that was the only reasonable route. I would have preferred the coastal route, but it wasn't covered, and the I-5 was a no-go with all those 25kW stations and no backups if one was...

    Is My 12V Battery Dying

It has to relearn how much the climate control affects range. It will settle back into the usual behavior over a week or so.

    Is My 12V Battery Dying

YES!!!!! Don't try to run the car anymore with this battery. Disconnect it ASAP and get the recommended Bosch AGM replacement. There have been numerous expensive repairs reported here caused by a weak 12v battery.

    2012 onboard charger

Is the CarMax offer WITH the broken charger? If so, then it sounds like a decent way out for you. If not, then you'd still be on the hook for the repair (or having them lower the offer by a lot) before you could sell to them. Since you've got the 50% offer on the repair, and you are the only one...

    2012 onboard charger

Unless you had Tony put in the aftermarket CHAdeMO add on, it is not possible to charge the RAV4EV in an hour. I have no clue what they could be referring to. I'm afraid that they almost certainly put in the same 12v battery the car came with. Dealers will rarely do anything else.

    2012 onboard charger

There's no such thing as a "Supercharger" for a RAV4EV. QuickChargePower.com sells a CHAdeMO add-on to do DC quick charging, but I don't think you have that, and a Toyota dealer would be very unlikely to have the CHAdeMO charger, anyway, as no Toyota cars currently use one. What they almost...

The only way to "twist their arm" is to actually ask for the refund. If they don't offer to match at that point, they never will.

Wider wheels at the front only?

It will lower your efficiency and therefore your range. Wider tires wouldn't affect your odometer, only taller ones.

Car doesn't charge to Extended mode

As the battery degrades, you have less and less additional charge after a regular charge. Plus the GOM isn't a great way to judge anything (unfortunately, Toyota/Tesla didn't give us a real battery level gauge). My understanding is that once the battery has degraded beyond a certain point, there...
