Big temperature effect on range / efficiency??

I agree we don't have a number for storage capacity but in another thread didn't Tony show us that we can divide miles shown on the GOM by the Avg of miles per 1Kwhr to calculate Kwhr capacity of the pack. I did that one time and calculated my pack had 32.8Kwhr.

    Weird braking sound?

The only noise I hear when braking at slow speeds is the vacuum assist pump. I haven't noticed it at higher speeds. Incidentally it is the same noise as on the Prius Plug In.

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

I wonder if the springs on the car are heavier, because of the increased weight of the batteries. Regular RAV4 springs might lower the car. Those mentioned above would probably lower it even more than 1.3 inches.

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

Sorry for the late response. I didn't notice a difference in mileage but they seemed quieter.

    Firmware version

Thanks, I found it here: http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=403&p=4605&hilit=settings#p4605

    Firmware version

If we ask the service advisor what version, we still need the answer to the first question to know if we have the latest. Does anybody know what the most current version is?

    Check EV System warning message

I have been getting the EV warning for the past 10 days but because it always cleared and because of previous vacation plans I didn't take it in until today. This morning the EV warning came on and the steering wheel was locked. I had an appointment that I needed to get to so I recycled...

    Pause in the charging?

To clarify in my mind, when you say cells I presume you mean the first group of paralleled cells (brick) in the pack. I don't know the details of the Tesla Battery management system but it sounds like it may use a combination of passive and active cell balancing. Passive cell balancing is...

    Real World Range

Then my battery capacity has degraded to 41.02 in 9,000 miles and 9 months of ownership. As a check on my math, I used displayed range of 105 after a normal charge, divided by the average 3.2 miles/Kwhrs displayed on the nav screen to get 32.81 Kwhrs capacity in normal. That number divided by...

    Real World Range

Did you use some assumed miles/ Kwhr rate to calculate that number?

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

In December, when I only had 2k on the car, I bought some Michelin Energy Saver A/S's and sold my Yokos for $200 on Craigslist. I have been happy with the Michelins.

Open Source EVSE coming on Kickstarter

Chris Howell, the developer of the Open EVSE project had some reservations about this project being safe at 60 Amps. Here is his comments on the Tesla Motors Club: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/18342-Kickstarter-Level-2-charger-109-329 That of course is not a concern to a RAV...

    Wheego

I was there last year with a friend. We test drove the RAV4EV and within days each of us had put down a deposit. Great show.

How much do you pay in electricity to charge your car

I am on a TOU-D-T rate with SCE and when my solar came on line in February, they didn't have to change out the smart meter. I am driving more miles lately and using the free chargers in town less so my bill is moving close to tier 2. I guess I should go to the TOU-D-TEV schedule to get the...

Heat generated from under hood while charging

And that same coolant must also pull heat out of the battery pack when it is being charged.

    BC2BC-2015 Mexico 2 Canada, Sep 13-20, 2015

That would be Orland, correct? Looks like a Roadster adapter and a J1772 plug. I know you carry a lot of adaptors. What do you need to charge at a Tesla Station?

    New owner - Charging question

If the Tesla charger pulls 20 amps how does the "dialed down" Panasonic EVSE tell the charger to pull less amps. Is this done with the J1772 signal or changed resister value?

    Inside the Tesla Battery

Another thing is that they use thousands of small cells. These cells have been modified to confine thermal runaway and prevent it from involving the entire pack. Those cells also have a high energy density.

    Charging speed for longevity

My Clipper Creek 20A 240V EVSE arrived yesterday. It cost $595 plus tax and shipping. I am getting approximately 12 miles per hour of charging (4.8kW). That is three times the speed of the 120V charger but less than the L2 Chargepoint chargers that give me over 20 miles per hour of charging...

    Phantom Drain

One of the compelling reasons for me to buy the RAV4EV was the Tesla technology in the drivetrain (including a very sophisticated battery management system) and the Toyota reputation for low maintenance costs. I know several Tesla engineers and recently heard a talk by a Spacex engineer. None of...
