After many months of waiting, my drive unit was finally replaced. The silence is SOOOOO NICE! EV Grin all over again.
I am in Austin and they delivered the unit to the local dealership. A tech came in and swapped it out in one day. My GOM actually seemed to get better after I got it back (showing 5-10 miles more at end of extended charge than before we took it in).
They replaced the motor assembly, G-48 coolant, and ATF. I also had them update the firmware.
Listed on paperwork as:
"Internal motor/generator bearing failure" $13,721 (part, labor, rental, tax) charged to Toyota Extra Care (extended warranty).
Currently at 96k miles.
