Hey, y'all. I ran into an issue two weeks ago where my battery coolant pump (Pump #1, the "left" one PART G9020-OR020 ) died. Side note: Thanks to Al Savage for the assist with the Tesla Powertrain Diagnostic Software and totally awesome cable! Wouldn't have been able to get my foot in the door with a dealer without you!

Anywho, took it to Toyota of Berkeley, asked how much to replace the pump. They said there were three backordered, with the oldest backorder going back to January 2023. None fulfilled. None available. $800-something if it were. Pump #2 (the "right" one, PART G9020-OR030) is available, supposedly, but even though several folks on this forum have demonstrated that they're flippable (i.e. the same pump, oriented differently) they won't entertain the idea of putting in that one.

I can't find a shop that'll put in a Tesla-branded pump (the ones from the Model S). And now Toyota corporate says they're possibly gonna offer to buy back my Rav (the dealer service manager said "they want those things off the road, cuz of their pissing contest with Tesla"). So currently, I'm waiting for a tier-two engineer at Toyota corporate to say they can install Pump #2, (or god forbid, the Tesla pump, found elsewhere) or a brand-experience-manager-person to decide wither or not to give me something for my car to make me go away. Not sure what to do. I love my Rav (his name is WALL-E, cuz he's a junky little shitbox compared to my wife's Tesla--the EVE in our driveway). 110,000 miles, a fantastic decade of love, and all taken out by a $100 pump.

I love this forum because y'all are committed to keeping these awesome-ass Ravs on the road after Toyota and Tesla and everything else seems to conspire against them. You fight entropy. You reverse-engineer. You solve. And somehow, anytime we need one of the two companies who built these little beauties to just sell us a damn part, it's like going into battle. So effed up. Any suggestions, y'all?

I'm very surprised that a buy back is on the table at all, and wonder if the dealer is full of it. I'm not personally interested, but entertain offers before you accept a buy back. Someone may be willing to give you more than they offer.

Another thought is to see if they'll supply pump #2 even if they won't install it. You still have to find a shop to install it, but...
