Hot Water - Solar / hybrid / on demand

I'd long thought that direct solar water heating systems were the most efficient and reliable for domestic hot water, but the argument that merely increasing the PV capacity and installing a high efficiency water heating appliance (such as heat-pump with recirc or small point-of-use tanks) actually pencil out really well, and installation and maintenance could be much easier and far lower in cost - but I still want to research further -

The direct pv panel to heating coil option also looks really good too, but I can't find more than one vendor -
