I ordered one of those cigarette lighter voltage indicators.
Before I put it in my rav, i checked with a variable power supply and a fluke meter how accurate it is, and it
always indicated the same as my fluke.
I have been driving around with it in my rav now for a couple of days.
The dc-dc converter that keeps the 12 volt battery charged seems to output always 14.4-14.5 volt in my case.
I think this is rather high. I would have prefered a maximum of 14.1 volt max.
With the current float voltage, i am afraid it will start to evaporate the water.
I don't think the factory battery can be checked/refilled for water level, can they ?
How do others feel about those charging/float voltages for the 12 volt battery ?

That's not unusually high. Yes, 12 volt batteries are on 14 volt electrical systems (and 24 volt batteries on 28 volt busses).

I don't see that as a big problem. Yes, even the "sealed" batteries can usually be opened up (I've done it) to refill electrolyte.

I was forced to move a full size door in the back of my truck.
Plugged the unit in, and you are right (as usual)
Even on an ICE the battery voltage was between 14.5-14.7 volts most of the time.
So ignore this thread ;-)
