    Check EV System warning message

I managed to get the Rav4EV back to SanLuisObispo-Toyota. Had to use the SOS button (Toyota Roadside Assistance) to flatbed the car to the dealership since I was getting close to empty before I could reach the charging station at Paso Robles. They pulled the error code and found out that the...

Cheapest RAV4 EV Toyota Extended Warranty

I called Bruce over at Stapp Toyota, and he said the reason why you received the $734 special price is because you are a local/loyal customer. Bruce said that for the rest of us (online shoppers), they normally charge $1134 for 8year/75K VSA.

    Check EV System warning message

I hope not... if the gateway is damaged, wouldn't that mean the car will stop working? My Rav4EV still drives like there isn't anything wrong with it... just that darn error message won't get away.

    Check EV System warning message

Got an Interstate 24F battery (from Costco) installed on the Rav4EV... however, it didn't clear the error message. I'm hoping (& praying) that when I drive it to work tomorrow... this headache goes away

ALL POSTS - 12-volt battery replacement

Costco sells RV/watercraft deep-cycle 12V batteries, I've personally purchased like 4 of those for our RV. I'll probably try those instead of the regular automotive battery based on Tony's recommendation.

    Check EV System warning message

Thanks for your detailed feedback. Yes, my Rav4 works just fine except for that persistent "Check-EV" screen. It's not making funny noises or anything that's out of the ordinary. First think I'll probably do when I get home is do a 12V battery test using a voltmeter. I've already called the...

    Check EV System warning message

Is there a trick to clearing this error out? before the firmware update, I tried unplugging/replugging the 12V battery, and doing the 4 on/off cycles while putting my foot on the brakes... didn't work.

    Check EV System warning message

damn it... after the recall's firmware update, the Rav4EV ran just fine for almost 2 months. Today, the dreaded "Check EV system" indicator lit up again! This is frustrating, I wouldn't have been this pissed if the nearest dealership that'll work on this thing isn't 140 miles away =X

    Check EV System warning message

strange how you had a negative experience & mine the opposite! They gave me a Camry loaner from Enterprise Rent-a-car for a day which I drove to Fresno & back (didn't wanna stay overnight at SLO). Chris, the service advisor, was straight forward to deal. I believe only dealers who sold Rav4EVs...

    Check EV System warning message

Happy to report that it just needed the firmware update & that fixed the error code! Drove to Toyota of San Luis Obispo, they did a great job in taking care of my Rav4EV =)

    Check EV System warning message

I'm getting the same error now for the first time @24K miles. DARN IT! I have a problem because the nearest EV-certified dealer from Fresno is in San Luis Obispo, almost 150 miles away... not even in driving range /sigh

Using Entune to track your car during shipping out of CA

@Amped: I got rid of previous car via CarMax (2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR)... tried selling it via Craigslist, but gave up after a couple of weeks. Carmax gave me a decent offer, so it was a hassle-free way of getting quick cash out of my car.

Installing Two 40 amp EVSEs? A word of Warning

^ Point well taken. I was hangup on my own little world (house) that I didn't think about how to look at things on a bigger picture (as how you explained it). =)

Installing Two 40 amp EVSEs? A word of Warning

^ I see. Well, PG&E did send out a site engineer (when I requested for the E-9A rate plan) to perform a service inspection. So, I should be all good =)

Installing Two 40 amp EVSEs? A word of Warning

If they allowed our house builder to put in a 200A service panel, shouldn't that mean that PG&E specced our home to draw 200A max, doesn't matter what type of appliances/chargers/etc are running, right?

Installing Two 40 amp EVSEs? A word of Warning

I have a 200A main panel, with a 100A subpanel that feeds two Clipper Creek CS-60s. The hardwired CS-60 has a 60A breaker (charges the Rav4EV), while the other CS-60 has a 40A breaker on a NEMA 14-50 outlet (charges the Leaf). I still don't understand how (2) 40A EVSEs would cause the utility...

    Bike Rack Ideas?

Hi Dianne, I tried looking for a roof setup at first, but the hitch approach is actually a better idea. I've had friends damage their bikes because they forgot to dismount the bikes before driving into the garage. here's my setup:
