    EVSE 40A circuit

You already invested in the 40amp charger. I recommend making your service adequate for using it. Be aware that the 80% limitation on rated output only applies for continuous usage (two hours or more), which is very likely to happen regularly. It sounds like the 100 amp sub-panel is in the...

Looking for solutions from experienced owners

Isn't that the truth. I have my end time set for 7am and the charge finishes between 3:30 and 4:30am daily. It usually starts around 12am or just after, but sometimes before if very low. The worst is when it only needs a small charge, then it doesn't start until 6am, which is when I usually...

    Towing with the RAV4 EV

Yeah probably. I'm guessing at the weight too. I think the Rav will do well towing, especially with electric or surge brakes on the trailer but I would be very concerned about retrieveing a larger boat. - Holy $#*%!, I just looked up the weight for the Brendella and it is 2200#, so with gear...

    Towing with the RAV4 EV

I do a lot of power boating. Luanching is easy, it's retrieval that's difficult. The Rav4 EV has plenty of power but depending on the ramp and boat, front wheel drive is a problem. The boat assisst can be risky. I would never do it with my outboard with a $300 prop and $10k motor it's just not...

TPMS mysteriously shows a warning then goes away?

TPMS warning happened to me briefly the other day. It went away after about 5 mninutes. It was a warm and sunny SoCal afternoon, so not sure what's up.

SoCal EV Meet Up Saturday, June 27, 8am - 11am, Santa Ana

I enjoyed the breakfast, thanks for putting everything together. I had a brief chat with Beth on the walk in, she sure likes her B class. I sat next to FROMPORT and had a nice chat. I'm glad his drive home was faster due to Chademo. Sorry I missed the after party, I would have liked to make it...

ALL POSTS - Heater Failed - Service Bulletin TSB 0111-14

If Toyota ever gives me an ICE rental during EV extended service, I think I'll park it right outside the service dept., lock it up and leave it there for them to look at the entire time my EV is in service. Then I'll call my wife to come pick me up and drive the Prius until the EV is ready. I...

ALL POSTS - GOM - Range Meter - Distance To Empty meter

The shorter the trips, usually the lower the range on the "Guess-O-Meter" after charging. I'll bet if you drive the car below 30 miles range, including some freeway trips or otherwise more efficient driving, the range after charging will increase into the 90's or more. It is an estimate based on...

Your tax dollars at work- building hydrogen fueling stations

Here is the email I sent to at [email protected]: Dear respected officials, In August 2014 I leased a 100% electric BEV. To date this is the best of 14 cars I have owned in my life. I love everything about it and I wish I could drive it everywhere I go. I will definitely purchase the...

California Electric Vehicle Submetering Pilot Program

What utility are you with? The solar offset thing MAY be an issue, but IF that's true for your utility there is nothing that keeps you from plugging into the JB for the PEV trial once a month to participate and get the rebates, and use your other charger the rest of the time. :D

    Solar Panel Discussion

So for TOU-D-T if you are generating excess during peak hours, do you get at .34 credit or .49?

California Electric Vehicle Submetering Pilot Program

I got my first $150 rebate from EMW via Paypal a couple of days ago. That was kinda cool. Unfortunately, my Ohmconnect account has disappeared and I can't get a reply from anyone there to see what's up. I hope I still have all my points and historical data if I can get back in someday. Also my...

    Trailer Hitch Installation

There's an entire thread on this in the modofications and accessories section. You should find several suiatble hitches in the thread. The 2014 Rav4 is EXACTLY the same as the 2012 and 2013 except the VIN date code. The Rav4EV (all years) are common to the 2006 - 2012 model year, so NEVER order...

Awesome, and it looks like it was kinda fun. Thanks for crash testing your products.

California Electric Vehicle Submetering Pilot Program

I'm with SDGE so my experience is not a direct comparison. But I did find that based on your individual energy usage profile (kWh, time of day) that the different time periods and rates between different schedules will affect which schedule gets you to "zero" faster (or provides more credits)...

The smallest Quick 240V from two 120V outlets?

I like all the information shared here, thanks to all. I've had this adapter on the back burner for some time. I sketched up a schematic that I believe addressed all safety concerns and potential reverse polarity wiring issues. I believe I accomplished this with a single DPDT relay. I'll have to...

ALL POSTS - Heater Failed - Service Bulletin TSB 0111-14

Has anyone asked for the old parts to be returned? I imagine if Toyota is paying (warranty work) they might not be required to return replaced parts (not sure what CA law says here). But I intend to always ask. In several years if I have an issue and parts are scarce or excessively expansive, I...
