Would you buy out yours at lease end?

My lease ends next summer. I love the RAV4, but chances are good that I will turn it in. I'm going to decide after I test drive the Bolt. I also have a deposit on the Model 3, but my gut is telling me that it will not be the car for me. My lifestyle really demands a hatchback, and the trunk...

Any other Rav4ev owners make a Model 3 deposit?

I was #88 in Pasadena. Glad I waited in line. It was a fun event. I've been looking at the Model 3 pictures today. Pretty sure it is not for me. I'm really more of an SUV guy. I go to Home Depot a lot and also like haul bikes around. The RAV4 is perfect for that sort of thing. The Model...

BMW and VW team to build electric vehicle charging network

The Wired article on this says it will be SAE and Chademo. Very nice.

BMW and VW team to build electric vehicle charging network

They're building an SAE based fast charging network along both coasts. San Diego to Portland and Boston to DC. http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-bmw-vw-electric-charging-network-20150120-story.html Any chance Tony can do SAE as well? :D

today's charging infrastructure looks pathetic [article]

Yeah, it is kind of pathetic, but such is the world of early adopters. I remember when a J1772s were hard to find. The good thing is that, with a 200 mile range, you can have fewer stations. Tesla covered the country with a few hundred chargers. If all GM did was place 2-3 fast chargers at...

Wrecked Rav4 EV #2468 auction from State Farm

If it is blue and had damage to the front passenger side, then it was probably mine. The battery survived the collision and was stored properly at a dealer while they tried to fix the body. Too much frame damage, so they totaled the vehicle in June of this year. After that, who knows what...

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

I had a lease, so the car is owned by Toyota's leasing company. It is their option to sell/salvage.

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

The damage extended in behind the dashboard. It needed a new dash, but when they discovered a bent dash panel, it put it over the top.

Another one gets the crush. (BMW ActiveE)

As a former Active E owner, that was very, very hard to see. It was such a great little car, and in some ways, better than the i3.

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

Took them a month to finally figure it out, but I just got word that the car is totaled. Maybe you can find a spare battery in a salvage yard soon. Now the question turns to the replacement. Right now the obvious choice is another RAV4 EV, which is still the best EV on the market short of...

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

Looks like that battery is being taken out by Keyes Toyota and stored there while the body work is being done.

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

It is being repaired by a Toyota dealer who has a body shop and certification to repair EVs. I still worry, though...

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

Excellent point. Insisting the battery be removed beforehand doesn't mean they would actually remove it. How would one make sure that they comply?

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

Looks like it will probably get fixed. The appraiser suspects the repairs will be less than replacement value. He was very confident that the body work would be straightforward, but wasn't sure about the EV drivetrain. The car is at a dealer for an estimate, probably today.

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

If it is just the body, then there may be hope. RAV4 doors and fenders are plentiful. If the drivetrain is damaged at all, then there may be issues with sourcing parts. We'll see what happens.

One less RAV4 EV on the road, I think...

My RAV4 got hit this weekend. The other guy ran a red light. No major injuries, thankfully, everyone walked away. I suspect it is totaled, but I'll find out in a few days from the insurance company. Front wheel got pushed in, door is toast, the frame is probably damaged. The car still...

Tesla Confirms Model S CHAdeMO Adapter

Very interesting. I wonder if it would be possible to adapt this for a RAV4. http://insideevs.com/tesla-confirms-chademo-adapter-for-us-coming-this-winter-pricing-starts-at-1000/

    dead car!

Same thing just happened to me. Dead car. I put the 12v battery on a trickle charger and the car eventually came back. I had service and the most recent software update last week, could that have caused the issue? Now I'm wondering if I should take it in or not.

How much would you pay for a "Tesla" upgrade?

I'd pay up to $5K for Supercharger access, even with a 40kwh battery. Everything else... whatever.

Tesla battery shows no sign of range loss after 20K miles

Interesting little article. This Tesla owner has 20K miles on his Model S and supercharges a lot. So far, no loss of range. http://insideevs.com/video-this-tesla-model-s-shows-no-signs-of-range-loss-at-20500-miles/ I wonder if we'll have similar results with our Tesla batteries.
