    Home Electric Useage Monitors

Back when I installed mine about 2.5 years ago the instructions showed both methods, hooking up to a single or both phases. They just recommend hooking the black wire up to the circuit the gateway is on. Originally I had all sorts of problems with noise preventing communication between the...

    Home Electric Useage Monitors

I have mine hooked up to both phases although as you say it can work with the voltage monitor hooked only to one phase. I haven't really thought about the implication of hooking it up to only a single phase in terms of accuracy of the voltage and phase measurement.

The TED 5000 measures real power.

Big temperature effect on range / efficiency??

It's hard to tell with the limited resolution of the aux power display. I really wish they had some kind of digital readout on all the gauges. Since the TMS and cabin AC use the same heat pump I would assume both system's energy consumption is displayed. Even with the climate control off...

Big temperature effect on range / efficiency??

In my experience the effect the AC has on the GOM is a learned behavior. New, the hit was about 10% regardless of fan only or AC. After driving for a month or two it has converged on 4%. I would guess that the above suggestion won't yield any meaningfully data on energy use of the AC system...

    Home Electric Useage Monitors

It doesn't work :-) I've used them for maybe a year. I think they used to be called enersave. Regardless my energy report consists of: Always on, Refrigeration, Heating, and Other. I don't have any electrical hearing and Other is about 2/3 of my usage.

    B - Mode

+1. I thought that technique works because ICEs are more efficient under load which I don't think is true for EV motors (edit - It is true but not as dramatic as with ICEs).

    Back up beeping

Yes i know but the dealer does get money from Toyota for the service and if I get my free service done there I'm more likely to pay for service there later, maybe.

    Back up beeping

Bummer, I was planning on getting my car serviced there and have them change the beeping at the same time. I guess I will give them a call before a schedule an appointment and let them know if they want my business they are going to need to disable the beeping.

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

This is EXACTLY the problem! It is NOT accounted for! "Cell balancing" in my mind is the period of time that the charger is actually charging, but at a much lower rate than when in the bulk charging mode. I typically see ~650W pulled from my L2 EVSE charging station during this so-called...

    Stage 10 anyone?

   But it's a Toyota so you have to think in Japanese unless you are trying to charge it then you have to think in Muskese.

    Fresh Air / Recirculated Air

Yes, you can use the aux power display to get an idea of the energy usage. Unfortunately it is a very coarse bar graph but the difference between 0.4 kW and 4 kW is easy enough to distinguish :D

    Fresh Air / Recirculated Air

Hit the recirculate button twice, and you should get fresh air flow when the vehicle is moving. The climate control display should show an icon indicating fresh air coming into the vehicle. It is not much, but it is something. That said, the air conditioning heat pump really does not use much...

Automatically Switching from Recirculation to Fresh Air Bug

Does it have anything to do with the humidity sensor? The car thinks it is too humid and the windows risk fogging so it lets in fresh air. Have someone blow on the sensor and see if it causes the switch.

    Bluetooth Tethering via Entunes?

It's been there at least since I've had my RAV4 EV (beginning of March).

Entunes Glitch on My HTC Evo 3D Phone.

While the OP did not specify, I believe he was using the Entune's Pandora app on the car. I've had similar problems with it starting to play through the speaker of the phone, but only on a few occasions. Killing the Pandora app or service if it exists (you don't need to have it installed on...

    Storage / Long Term Parking

Power to the cigarette lighter is cut off when the car is turned off so that would not work.

traction control light comes on at a full stop?

Yes, the RAV4EV has hill assist.

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

Thanks for documenting that, fooljoe. You'll also notice if you look at the screen to the right of the speedometer it has 120V and 240V charge durations and when you plug in the 20A EVSE the 240V will disappear showing only the 120V charge duration. I still don't think the charge duration...
