    Microcontroller Logger

Thanks, I was aware of Tony's work trying to decode the data on the bus, but hadn't heard anything in a while so wasn't sure if it was still ongoing. Glad to see it is! Anyway, I was just interested in playing around with one of these microcontrollers and looking for some somewhat useful...

Wow, you must be just down the street. I live on Bixby not too far from Cherry. Oh and I go the year wrong, we have a 2011 Volt.

    Microcontroller Logger

Hi Guys/Gals! I've had an idea floating around in my head the last few days. I've been thinking about using a microcontroller like the Arduino wired into the Rav4 EV to monitor various parameters and then upload them to an FTP server via WiFi. I was thinking of having several thermocouples...

Welcome Mike, from another Long Beach Rav4 EV owner! We have a 2012 Volt as well. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the Check EV error message, but let us know how it goes.

Convince me to buy this car over a LEAF

Having your car in the shop for a month must be beyond frustrating, especially if you are leasing. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question and even if only 2012 have had problems to date, with the more limited number of 2013 out and at lower mileage it probably would not mean...

Convince me to buy this car over a LEAF

I would say that the Check EV System error is a very generic error similar to a check engine light in an ICE vehicle. Not everyone in this thread that has gotten this error has the same root problem. In terms of having a reliable car, this is a bit of a Franken-car that has a very limited...

    Dealership Experiences

If you are having second thoughts on all the add one, you might still be able to back out of them if they haven't done the work yet.

To a look today and the window sticker on the RAV4EV specifically states 3 years of nav traffic, weather, stocks, and sports scores. I'd like to see someone at Toyota try to back out of that one.

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

I guess I missed that part in the manual. I always press the release button while I insert the J-plug and then release the release button once it is seated. Kinda like I tend to turn the knob of a door before I close it...a little OCD maybe. Regardless, I have never had a charging issue...

    Real World Range

It does beep 2-3 times but I guess I missed something; isn't the car on when you leave the fob in the car as well? Edit: Reread what you said and I think you are just saying it makes noise. Yes it does beep. Again no real benefit taking the fob with you. The fob is just a little more...

    Real World Range

Not that it makes much difference, but it doesn't seem necessary to leave the fob in the car. You can take the fob with you and use the key to lock the door. Interestingly enough it doesn't seem to let you unlock the car with the fob.

How much do you pay in electricity to charge your car

Super off-peak was tiered until just 1-2 months ago, prior to that it was .10 and .16/.17 (winter/summer) for tier 1 and tier 2. I'm a little brain dead at the moment, but wouldn't designing your system to bring you to baseline always have the fastest payoff regardless of whether or not super...

Mine is still working at about 3.5 months since I purchased the car. I was a little worried as well since like you the only place I could confirm the three year duration of the data service was on the entune website. I've contemplated taking a screen shot for documentation but so far haven't...

    Delayed Charging

There is no way to set a time to start charging unless you set up an external timer. You can set a departure time and the car is supposed to start charging automatically so it finishes by your departure time but at best it will start way earlier than it needs to and at worst it may not start at...

    New owner - Charging question

My 18 mile crawl home stuck in traffic on the 405 sure helped. I was hitting 5 MPkWh on the trip home with speeds averaging 20-30 mph. I started driving more normally after the first two months (plus got my carpool sticker) and sadly I'm not even in the top ten at 3.4-3.5 MPkWh.

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I think I am experiencing the same thing as well. The sound is definitely noticeable but not loud enough to annoy me yet. It really sounds like hitting the resonance frequency of something in the motor or gearbox. There seems to be two, one around 20 mph and another around 50-60. The higher...

    Tesla model S UMC with J1772 & JESLA(tm) conversion

The CS-60 only supplies a max of 48A and thus only requires a 60A breaker assuming everything else in the circuit can handle the current.

    New owner - Charging question

Hi Dianne. FYI....I bought my car from Greg at your dealership in March. I bought it on a Sunday morning and by the evening I received an email to the address I provided you from mysafteyconnect.com with the subject Toyota Subscription Agreement. The agreement was attached as a PDF and on the...
