Since I used to own a s2000 (I missed her), and compare it to the Rav's bonnet, why did Toyota make this thing so dang heavy?

Is the bonnet from a regular Rav4 this heavy too?

In the s2000, the bonnet is way longer than the Rav (as people thinks there is a v8 in it), but you could lift it with one finger. The Rav4ev seems to require bench pressing muscles to lift that sucker.

Yes, I noticed the hood is very heavy on the Rav4 EV, leading me to suspect it's a steel hood.

It's very heavy vs. aluminum hoods on my former 04 Nissan 350Z and my 06 Prius.

You can replace it with one of these:

haha I was thinking the same thing and I too used to have an S2000. I was shocked that this hood was so heavy! A carbon fiber hood would be nice but thats a lot of money. Id rather save the money and find some ultra lightweight wheels. Maybe save a few pounds there.

Due to the unknown nature of the intended uses of these products, hood pins are required. These products are intended for off-road use only, unless your local and state laws state otherwise.
