Alert DI_w115: Drive unit internal temperature imbalance detected

Once when I was working with a friend to replace his failed RAV4 EV coolant recirc pump (the one that you can see and reach with the hood up, near the radiator) it was whining and not circulating coolant upon initial installation. It turned out that there was an air bubble next to the pump and...

    LDU special disassembly tools

asavage, this is fantastic! Can you post diagrams so I can try to produce a set? I’m going to need to do this sooner or later. I’m going to post something similar on your other thread. -Davio

    Tesla Powertrain Diagnostics ("TPD") v1.1.46

I am curious as to the answer of the original question: was your solution to replace gateway.dll?

Should we sell our 2012 RAV4EV, almost 90k miles ?

Irfom, are you, or are you using, a large language model?

Who still owns a RAV4 EV?

I apologize for the negative implication but I consider you (and myself) to be what is referred to as a "white hat hacker". White hat hackers are people who only breach systems to secure or restore the legitimate access rights of others. I think that the community can reasonably conclude that...

Who still owns a RAV4 EV?

We still have our 2013 in Pearl White. Purchased with 37K miles on it in 2018. Now has 138K miles on it. It's my family's only car. If we need anything else, we rent it. It's had two mechanical failures to date: I replaced coolant pump in 11/2020. With a lot of help from jfletter, we replaced...

    Knocking Under the Hood

I'm going to post the absolute dumbest "repair" that I've ever had the pleasure of doing. But maybe it will help someone. Last summer, I replaced the coolants in my RAV4 EV. I was careful about purging the air from the blue coolant system (thanks Alflash!) but I guess I wasn't as careful when I...

Check EV System Message - My particular case/solution

For what it's worth, plee and I just verified that the cabin water heater pump is NOT compatible with the other three coolant pumps. -Davio

CHECK EV SYSTEM THC D0005 Coolant Pump 1 Malfunction

FYI: plee and I verified that the powertrain pump and battery pumps are NOT compatible with the cabin heating system pump. The connectors at least are different. -Davio

CHECK EV SYSTEM THC D0005 Coolant Pump 1 Malfunction

From my own experiences with this issue, you should be able to replace either pump with either pump or with the drive unit coolant pump. First generation Tesla Model S pumps work fine and cost about $100 on eBay. I replaced both pumps with the equivalent Tesla Model S 2012-2016 parts and...

My own experiences fixing a RAV4 EV not charging/fuse blown issue

Well, I asked for peer review and I got it. And when I'm wrong, I usually want to know it early. And I was wrong. I had asked if anyone else had any insight into the resistance of the fuses. The bottom line is that their resistance is in the low numbers of milliOhms. miimura and I just tested...

    Introducing OVMS for RAV4 EV

alflash has a cable specification that he regularly uses to perform remote diagnostics. It's pretty simple and if you're reading the MAC address then I suspect that you already have one that should work. But if you want to test it, you can contact him via his website, alflash.com.ua

Thanks, miimura. I just PM'd you my contact information and availability. -Davio

My own experiences fixing a RAV4 EV not charging/fuse blown issue

This is a good point. If anyone has a tightly controlled constant current power supply in the same geographic area, we can also perform the test and get at least a rough idea of the resistance of the fuses.

My own experiences fixing a RAV4 EV not charging/fuse blown issue

Request: Is there anyone in the greater San Francisco Bay Area as far inland as Sacramento who would be willing to lend me a milli ohmmeter or just let me make a couple of measurements on yours while you watch? Otherwise, if anyone in the community has an A50P50-4 and a milli ohmmeter, could...

My own experiences fixing a RAV4 EV not charging/fuse blown issue

RAV4 EV charging issue case study for MyRAV4EV forum: I’m writing to document my successful resolution of a RAV4 EV charging issue caused by a blown fuse in the onboard charger. There is substantial overlap between my issue and this thread...

Check EV System Message - My particular case/solution

I'm not sure what information the dealership provides as part of the diagnostic service. But since they would want to provide service based on the diagnostics, I would assume that they've provide enough information at least to explain what they would do to repair the car and why. Perhaps they'd...

Check EV System Message - My particular case/solution

This is what Toyota of Palo Alto says about the service: As for the part, thanks. Yes, that would save me a few hundred dollars off of the Toyota of Walnut Creek price. I would still certainly like to know if the parts are truly identical or are merely interoperable. -Davio UPDATE: To be...

Check EV System Message - My particular case/solution

Yes, the fourth pump is the cabin heater pump. I think that the pumps fail more often than they do on ICE vehicles because, while an ICE vehicle runs its water pumps only when driving, an EV runs them when charging, too. Since charging is at fewer MPH than driving, they run them >> more. As...

Check EV System Message - My particular case/solution

The Lingenfelter pump manual said to maintain 2 Hz +/- 0.2 Hz. They compare their pump performance to Bosch (and I think that the Tesla and Toyota pumps are actually Bosch) so I figured that, if it was intended as a replacement for those pumps, the same frequency would work. As for the 50% duty...
