Ready On + Doors Locked & Keeping the key fobs in hand

Yeah, but the hassle of taking your fob out of your pocket! ;)

    Safety connect

Nope. I did not renew. I barely ever use any of its features. The only thing I miss a little is the traffic on the map. It was nice to see on bigger screen than my phone. They kept calling me for about a month. So you might be able to negotiate a better deal.

    SCE TOU Rate Plan Changes

v_traveler, do you have Solar generation? Since the new rates push the peak hours from 12-6pm to 2-8pm, it seems that anyone with solar might be worst off as the solar output is between 10-6pm. What it means is that when you're home from work at around 6pm, your solar is not generating (or not...

    Digital charging display mod

Hey Jimbo, just want to post and say THANKS for sharing! Always want to do this myself, and thanks for this great write-ups, with details and pictures! Without it, the safety inputs/comments from the members would not have been here for the community. This makes its easier for anyone else to...

How many RAV4EVs are still available? 13 as of 7 Jan 2015

Congrats. Good choice! Our two kids 9,12, love the roominess and reclineable back seats of the RavEV. We love the easy 110 miles std charge range (135 full charge). However I gotta say, the LEAF is a noticeably smoother and quieter ride. Driving the LEAF is driving electric. The Rav feels...

    B mode and regen

I use B and D and N interchangeably daily. I change to D on getting up to speed, then use B toward traffic or red lights ahead as a pre-cursor to using the brakes. I drive like this on daily commute and get ~3.8m/kwh. On long road trip on freeway, I'm only getting 3.3m/kwh. I think I would...

Just drove home with a Rav

Congrats! Best EV available for the price. Great utility. Great range. Great overall EV, with Tesla insides. We love our Rav4EV. Just wish it can do DC quick charger. Better yet, Tesla Super charger. Other than that, 16k miles in slightly more than a year.

    Toyota Entune Problem

Still not working for me. The Climate Control still gives me "Climate activation was not successful. Please try again". Haven't tried remote charging yet, but the "Update" feature isn't working either. I'm going to put in a call to Toyota today. Hasn't been working for me for at least a week...

    Trailer Hitch Installation

Very nice, thank-you Joyride. I'm thinking of doing the hitch installation too, and this place is just across town!

Tesla installing battery shields on Model S

I also have as much concern on this issue for the Rav4EV as I have for the the issue that caused a brand spanking new GM that burst into flame on a test drive :) http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/new-2015-gmc-yukon-catches-fire-during-test-drive-191522831.html

    Low battery sequence

Did you really go 5 miles, from 17 to 12; 7 miles from 12 to LO 5...or are those reported miles just GOM miles?

    Charging duration too long

Did you registered for the chargepoint account? I usually just login and check the status there instead of any dash info.

    Rav4EV sighting

Yeah, I did see you, almost last second!...gave an aloha wave, but I forgot my windows are tinted, so you may not have seen me. The tinted windows are great for the summer, but gotta remember to roll them down for the EV greetings! ;)

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

For me, unless I hear it over road/tire noise, I consider it normal. The HUM is heard only when power is applied, as in hard acceleration (normal to certain subjective level, tho), or keeping power on to maintain speed on the freeway - this is where it's most certainly NOT normal, if you can...

    Rav4EV sighting

Hey that's cool! I'll keep and eye out for you next time. I've seen several different LEAFs dropping off kids at that school too, and if you actually go up the hill to do the drop off, there's a blue LEAF parked there every morning, prob a staff or teacher...and of course, there's several Tesla...

    Rav4EV sighting

I drive my Blizzard Pearl down Bryan, Irvine Blvd, Portola, between Culver, Jamboree and Tustin Ranch Rd all the time. I did see a Shoreline Blue on Pioneer and Tustin Ranch Rd after dropping my kid off at Pioneer MS couple of weeks ago. That wasn't you was it?

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I think I waited for about a month after Toyota approved the new motor/tranny assembly. But I was driving my car during the wait, and the motor replacement only took one scheduled day.

    Daylight Savings Time

As I understand it, "normal time" (as opposed to "Daylight Savings Time") is based on a reference point the whole world agreed to. Daylight Savings Time is basically only a "local" (ie. the US) time change: 1hr ahead, so you turn it "ON" in the Spring and turn it "OFF" in the fall. So the...

ALL POSTS - GOM - Range Meter - Distance To Empty meter

Charger types have no bearing on your max battery capacity or range at all. Another explanation is that when the dealer delivered fully charged car to you, they used "Extended charge", which is 100% of the battery. After you received the car on your own, all of your charging was using "Normal...

ALL POSTS Charging Sounds, Buzzing when Charging, Noises

Yes, I would occasionally hear the pretty loud buzzing at the start of a charging session. I would say 90% of the time I start charging this loud buzzing sound would also start. I don't usually stick around, but I know that i stops eventually, and then maybe starts up again intermittently and...
