New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

ChargePoint sites in Placerville and Colfax have appeared in the ChargePoint app, but do not show status yet and don't show successful charges in Plugshare yet. The Colfax site has not been added to Plugshare yet. The ChargePoint Dunnigan site is open, with a single 50kW unit across the street...

The CEC funded EVgo site in Williams appears to be online, at least according to Plugshare. It's not showing up in the EVgo app yet. Plugshare - Shop N' Save - Williams, CA

ALL POSTS - 12-volt battery replacement

I also don't have the updated harness on my early JdeMO unit, so I would use the 12V disconnect or pull the charger fuse if the JdeMO went wonky on me.

When you're buying a battery there are only a few things that inform the decision. 1. Size - The factory battery is Group 35 and is smaller than the Group 24F that will fit the battery tray. The battery group size includes the physical dimensions and the type and location of the battery...

How many owners here are still on their original Drive Unit?

CarFax won't have that kind of data. Any dealer can tell you the service history. You can also register for the Toyota Owner's site and it will probably give you a bunch of service data from dealer transactions.

IMHO, the problem with AGM in the RAV4 EV is that it float charges it at too high a voltage. If you are driving and charging back to back without letting it rest and discharge a little, it will overheat. I don't see why a different brand AGM would be any different than the Bosch. The problem...

ALL POSTS - 12-volt battery replacement

In theory, AGM batteries will overheat with prolonged float charging at 14.4V that the Tesla DC-DC in the RAV4 EV is programmed for. Bulk charging at that voltage is fine, but float should be reduced to 13.8V. If you check a Tesla car, I'm pretty sure they float the 12V battery at 13.8V. It...

The green knob thingy is a standard automotive battery disconnect accessory. You can find it at most auto parts stores. I bought this one: Harbor Freight - Battery Disconnect Switch The rest of the non-OEM stuff you can see in the picture is either part of the JdeMO installation, or added by me...

ALL POSTS - 12-volt battery replacement

The green knob is a disconnect. It allows you to easily reboot the car. In my case, I also cannot leave the car in READY for extended periods of time because the Bosch AGM battery overheats. I have a LiFePO4 battery that I temporarily connect when I want to leave it on for long periods. Just...

ALL POSTS - 12-volt battery replacement

It is pretty easy to get 1,000W out from the 12V system. Just make sure the car is on and READY so that the DC-DC will maintain the 12V from the traction battery. Also, don't use an AGM battery if you will leave the car parked for extended periods in READY like this. They will overheat and vent...

There are separate HVDC PTC heaters for the cabin and the battery pack. The A/C compressor also runs on high voltage as well as the electric power steering.

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Well, that didn't take long. Both of the Camp Roberts DCFCs are down and "undergoing maintenance". Several people did successfully charge, so that's good. I would like to see them have better uptime though. Having them both down for maintenance at the same time is a problem. At least if one was...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

That's good news. There are two rest areas, so it will require two new grid connections for a total of not more than $150,000. I wonder what level of grid connection they can get for less than $75,000. The Express 250 station they're using requires 80A 480VAC 3-phase power. That is 66.5kVA input...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

The ChargePoint grant funded site in Anderson, CA is open. This is about 11 miles south of the other ChargePoint site at the Target store in Redding, CA. Plugshare - Vittles Family Restaurant, Anderson, CA I don't think it's been posted in this thread yet - the ChargePoint grant funded site in...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Yes, both Northbound and Southbound rest areas have one charger each. However, it's still not clear to me what happens when the batteries are drained after the sun has gone down. The listing seems to indicate that the system may not be available until it is recharged by the solar system.

    Strange JLong extension failure

I'm guessing that the strain relief failed and the cable was pulled slightly out of the housing, pulling the pins backward into the body. It should be a relatively easy repair, but the strain relief should be strengthened.

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

The thing that I'm most frustrated about is that ChargePoint is not bringing the sites fully online and activating them on their network. It doesn't do anyone any good for them to be powered on but not showing as available on the network. Baker, Yermo and Buttonwillow have all been installed...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Bad news for the 101 corridor. Recargo is missing their deadlines for installing their grant funded charging sites and the State issued a pre-emptive stop work order to notify them that they will probably not get any of their grant funds...
