To keep the RAV, or not keep the RAV, that's the question?

After looking at the Rav4 EV survey http://goo.gl/QtrlKu The overall data looks pretty good to me. Not that many part replacements so far and the miles are adding up. I guess I have to assume that the most of the forum frustration is more around getting repairs fixed quickly than the overall...

ALL POSTS Charging Sounds, Buzzing when Charging, Noises

Thanks Tony I would think that having the coolant circulate when parked / plugged in would help the traction battery. Especially on very hot or cold days. I believe that I heard that Tesla's batteries do well over time because the coolant is constantly circulating. The Rav only when charging...

ALL POSTS Charging Sounds, Buzzing when Charging, Noises

Hi, I noticed that after charging my Rav but still plugged in I occasionally hear noise. Charging lights not blinking. Does the Rav continue to circulate coolant when plugged in? If so, this would be good for the battery, right? Anyone know? thanks James

Rav4 EV / Mercedes B class EV Comparison

Hi I believe that several folks on this forum have both cars and was wondering about the differences. The plus and minus for both. Can anyone share this? thanks

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I have a 2014 Rav4-EV with 5K miles and the sound I have is more like a high pitched whistle, not very loud. Definitely not the same sound as Tony's Utube. The sound I have seems sort of normal to me. Even though EVs have less moving parts they still do have some and a little noise might be...

    Buy Back Dreams

Interesting thread here I wonder how many would want Toyota to do a buy back. I was glad to hear that it would just be a SW update. I also don't see any other EVs in the same $ range with the same capabilities that I would rather have. This would be an interesting survey of current owners.

    New electric motor wait time

Recently read an interesting article regarding Tesla motor issues You may have already read this but if not here it is http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1093713_tesla-model-s-drive-unit-replacements-how-big-a-problem Maybe in some cases we just need a cable tightened or a shim? cheers

    New electric motor wait time

I recently read somewhere on this forum about a recent motor redesign. Does anyone know the approximate motor# or VIN# where the design change might have phased in? Hopefully it's a positive sign that Tesla might be doing some failure analysis and corrective actions on the motor issues. thanks

    New electric motor wait time

So does anyone know the reason for the the wining noise? I was thinking it was caused by the reduction gear and not the motor. If true, would this be more of an annoyance than a serious eventual breakdown problem? I would think everyone would have some degree of this noise, correct? thanks

    Complete 12 volt electrical failure

Sorry to hear about your incident. Good that it was easily fixed. Can someone explain more about how the different batteries and DC - DC work together in our EVs? I would think that the traction battery should be able to assist the 12v battery in an emergency situation. I also thought that...

Tesla Announced Roadster 3.0 Upgrade: 70 kWh Battery

So I wonder if there is a possible upgrade someday for our Rav4s. It's great that Tesla is offering upgrades for their older cars. I'm sure Toyota feels the same way. ; - ) I wonder how much the roadster upgrade costs?

Took the Rav to the Dragstrip.

Just need to find a place for the rear spoiler - that should get us to sub 14 ; - )

Spare Tire Thread; all spare tire posts here

So I have to ask.... Has anyone actually tried to repair a flat with the supplied Rav4 EV kit? I think it would work most of the time.

    Solar Panel Discussion

I'm closing in on a system with "Your Energy Solutions" using a 3.35KW system (10 Sunpower panels with micro Powerone inverters) The all black Sunpower panels are more $ but more efficient. $16K out the door. I will probably put it on a home equity line of credit and take the 30% tax credit...

    B mode and regen

I have been using B mode more. I find that it works better in stop and go traffic and under 40 MPH. I don't have to use the brake as much and I seem to get a little more range too. The other thing I noticed is that the ECO light goes out when I'm using B mode. Not sure if that matters though

RAV4 goes into B-mode by itself?

Interesting.. So has anyone compared D mode versus B mode in regards to range? Coasting also provides current to the battery in D mode so I wonder where the benefit of using B mode would be most useful, other than just braking in a slower long down hill descent? thanks

RAV4 goes into B-mode by itself?

So what does B mode do other than provide more breaking and more current to the battery? Is it really safe to use B mode at high speeds? I thought that B mode was just for long down hill use like shifting an ICE into 2nd gear on a down hill? thanks

Toyota Says No One Wants Toyota Electric Car, SIGN PETITION

Interesting article on California CARB and how it impacts the auto industry and the future development of EVS and FCVs http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/news/auto-blog/are-hydrogen-cars-the-zero-emissions-future-17418995?%3Fsrc=rss Cheers

    Owners list and their vins

Great information ! I was wondering about how many miles we averaged as a group. I wonder if the Tesla owners have similar averages? Thanks for putting this together

    Sport Mode

I use sport mode most of the time. I like the added performance and can easily control the acceleration with a lighter touch. The Rav4 EV in sport mode is actually close to the performance of my motorcycles. I seem to get the same range in either mode and I haven't spun the tires yet...
