New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

The CEC Chargepoint in Victoville just went live. Right next door to an existing EVgo, so it fills no gaps, but still one more option on the way to Las Vegas. Hopefully, they'll get the sites in Yermo and Baker up and running soon. https://www.plugshare.com/location/218059

Advice for use of platinum warranty (out of state)?

It's been a while, so I forget the exact details, but I had a similar problem. Charge would fail after about 10-15 seconds. Turned out to be my Leviton charger. Bad contactor. If you have enough charge in the vehicle to get to a known good EVSE, it might be worth a try. Otherwise, let the...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Not CEC, but the EA site in Bridgeport just went live. First step towards opening up the Eastern Sierras. It's now possible to get from Tahoe to Mammoth / Yosemite via 395. Two more EA sites along 395 need to go live and Los Angeles will be within reach...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Let us know how it goes. I'm taking the RAV4 to Vegas in about a week. Shouldn't be too bad LA > Victor Valley > Baker > Vegas.

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Looks like Chiriaco Summit went live. This really helps out for Joshua Tree and on I-10 going towards Blythe/Phoenix. https://www.plugshare.com/location/214054 Once the EA chargers in Quartzsite go live, Phoenix should be fairly easy, even in a RAV4.

JdeMO use with new ChargePoint and Electrify America station

Finally had a chance to use an Electrify America station. It worked great. I plugged in with a little over 50% in the battery, it started charging at a rate of 46kW, then tapered as expected. I really liked the EA interface, it was very easy to use.

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Looks like Camp Roberts on the 101 just went live. Seems to be the first of the CalTrans 30/30 sites. https://www.plugshare.com/location/207880

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

That's really sad about Recargo. Would any other company be able to step in to get the grants? In better news, Chargepoint's site at the foot of the Grapevine finally powered up (after almost six months.) That makes it much easier to get in/out of LA on I-5...

How long did you wait for a motor replacement?

Over 4 months for me. But to be fair, the dealer had the motor for a while but didn't think to call me when it arrived. Probably sat there for a month or two before I called and they 'discovered' the part was in stock.

JdeMO use with new ChargePoint and Electrify America station

An EA station opened at the Empire Center in Burbank, which I frequent. Been meaning to give it a try. I'll report back if I do.

Value of a Rav4 EV roller?

As long as there are working parts, it should be worth something. A good ECU or traction motor could always be sold for a decent price. Of course, that's if people still want them. I suspect once more affordable electric SUVs start hitting the market, the desirability of the RAV4 will fade...

    TIRE RECOMMENDATIONS

We've had a couple of threads on tires over the years. Some of the ones you mentioned have been used by other members: http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2277 http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2146 I personally have Continental CrossContact LX20s. Good tires...

Finally, a Toyota RAV4 EV replacement... maybe?

Thankfully, I'm in a CARB state, and, besides, I only need one. A gen3 RAV4 EV or a BEV Crosstrek might just be that one. I say the more EVs, the better. I'll never complain about manufacturers making more EVs, no matter where they are sold.

Finally, a Toyota RAV4 EV replacement... maybe?

Here's a little more info. Looks like a total of six BEVs before 2025. https://insideevs.com/news/353600/toyota-six-global-bevs I guess that fuel cell thing really didn't work out, did it? There are also rumors Toyota may have solid state batteries ready within a few years. Skeptical on...

Finally, a Toyota RAV4 EV replacement... maybe?

Interesting article I ran across. Relevant quote: https://insideevs.com/news/353244/toyota-subaru-develop-bev-platform Nice that they're finally doing something. I do suspect it will take a while. Not sure if I can wait that long to replace my current RAV4.

6 Years in our Rav4 EV

Good chance it is not normal. My car made a similar noise and needed a motor replacement. That warranty could come in handy, might want to take it into the dealer for a test.

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

I just drove up to Mammoth. Checked out the Bishop and Coso Junction Electrify America sites. Coso Junction is nearly complete with 4 stalls. Bishop is also underway, looks like at least 4 stalls there as well. I posted pics to Plugshare. https://www.plugshare.com/location/190894...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Looks like Electrify America has started work on two sites along 395 up to Mammoth - Bishop and Coso Junction. I love what EA is doing. There's also a few key sites on Plugshare that have been mostly complete for months but still not open. Wheeler Ridge on I-5 at the base of the Grapevine...

6 Years in our Rav4 EV

I'm about 6 years in RAV4 EVs as well. Unfortunately, my 2013 was totaled 11 months after I got it, so I'm 5 years in on my second one (2014). It's also my daily driver, Jdemo installed at about 30K, drive unit replaced at about 40K. Still going strong. I am starting to look fondly at the...
