Tesla installing battery shields on Model S

I have zero concern over this non-issue.

Tires - What alternatives would you recommend?

Check out the threads on the MNL forum and Prius chat. A change form one LRR to another can easily introduce a 10% range hit. The Ecopias had mixed reviews on the LEAF but when I went to Michelins it cost me quite a bit on range. The Ecopias we very efficient but I would not put them on the RAV...

Tires - What alternatives would you recommend?

Be careful with various LRR tires, they are not all the same and your range can greatly degrade. The stock tires are not great but they are efficient. The Micheline Energy Saver is a low cost OEM tire and the defenders tend to take a efficiency penalty. It is going to be tough to get much of any...

The smallest Quick 240V from two 120V outlets?

Since there are no clamps on that conduit box, what hold in all the wire exit points?

    Portable OpenEVSE at 40A

But venting is moot if you don't need it. In fact, an aluminum case with good thermal bonding will do very well. Also remember some large relays and contactors generate quite a bit of heat unloaded because of the coil load and design.

A metal enclosure would do better with the heat, plastic is not very conductive.

ALL POSTS Charging Sounds, Buzzing when Charging, Noises

How do you know they are coming from the OBC? Sometimes the cooling pump makes noise, I think in an effort to purge air out of the line or as a result of air in the line. Mine did this for a while and stopped. I parked it on a steep incline and problem solved the next day.

RAV4 Dislikes LEAF EVSE with EVSEUpgrade Rev 2

Exactly, that is a primary function of the EVSE and why the input cord must be short or hard wired. The sole role of an EVSE is not just to provide a pilot signal and power although some people out there have pushed unsafe and substandard implementations. Yes, it has been updated to 6 feet...

RAV4 Dislikes LEAF EVSE with EVSEUpgrade Rev 2

Tony, I was not commenting on what you do I was commenting on what many DYI people are doing that does not work in all cases.

Out of curiosity, which exact relay did you use. Link?

RAV4 Dislikes LEAF EVSE with EVSEUpgrade Rev 2

Yes it is and it also technically defeats one of the main functions of the EVSE. There is a specific reason the input cords are two feet or less. I would also caution those extending the J1772, I have seen this done improperly and damaging several EVs. A wire to wire connection is not always the...

RAV4 Dislikes LEAF EVSE with EVSEUpgrade Rev 2

That's actually not accurate, Only the Tesla systems have this issue. It is a compliance issue on both ends and not a cost savings move on Nissans part since this has evolved over time. The 2013 Nissan cable works on the RAV and other EVs, Other EVSE units do not work with the RAV and the...

Seeking opinions re: sound cancelling insulation

Frankly the benefit is low for the cost and time and the RAV needs to shed MUCH weight not gain any weigh.

Seeking opinions re: sound cancelling insulation

To do this properly on a RAV would be costly and with a big weight penalty. I would not do it.

Stevenson Toyota Selling RAV4 EV in Colorado... or Not

Toyota loses big on every RAV they need to sell in CA so why would they want to lose more and create more servicing nightmares?
