    EV+PV - Who Has It?

I have a 25kW system split installed in two phases. The first phase is taking all my available roof area mounting PV panels. The 2nd phase in which I installed 1/5/2012 is a 7.36kW system on dual trackers. Since the 1st phase system was installed in 2004 there were not a over-the-net monitor...

    EV+PV - Who Has It?

Sorry for the broken record, I meant to add that: Since heatpump uses the fan to take in surrounding hot air and produce cold air, I suggest you put it where your inverters are. This way, it will cool your inverters and give you higher efficiency on your solar PV system. I understand this is...

    EV+PV - Who Has It?

Good for you. AO SMITH MODEL#PHPT-60 was good couple years ago when I was doing a research for the college Environmental/Energy Saving Class. It is a hybrid heatpump.

    EV+PV - Who Has It?

You are not done until you change all your gas appliances to electric; and most importantly, cut off the gas pipe feeding to your house.

    EV+PV - Who Has It?

Congrats! I hope you get $$$ from your utility on your yearly tune-up. It is wonderful to use energy from the sun. Best of all, you don't have to think what time you should plug in your EV (in another word, you don't need to use the semi-malfunction untrustable timer). I didn't know my...

    Charger installation process

Thanks all for posting your EVSE installation experiences. I am ready to put *two* additional 100Amp breakers for two EVSEs, am looking for an electrician. I appreciate any advise/recommandation on electricians in the Bay Area.

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

This is what I learn from a long time Roadster driver (also advisory board member of PlugInAmerica) about Tesla's BMS: You don't have to worry about cell balancing with a Tesla as long as you leave it plugged in most of the time. The computers and sensors that control battery charging and...

    Range on RAV

My 2002 Rav4EV has close to 130K miles on its original battery pack. My charging habits has already been (whether it's the 2002 Rav4EV or the 2011 LEAF): only plug in when it's below 50% and only charge to 80% (unless I am have to drive long distance). Once in a while (~1000 miles), I charged...

    Range on RAV

Don't worry. It is OK to charge to 100% as long as you don't let the battery sits at 100% (i.e. use it within half to one hour). The first couple hours (especially the first hour) after the battery top off, it self-discharges in high rate. Self-discharge has effects on SOH (state of health)...

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

Thanks for sharing your experience on cell balancing on the new Rav4EV. This is very inconvenience if I have to leave the Rav to plug-in at least 6 hours after 100% refill to get cell balance. I don't like my EVs sitting at 100% because it allows the battery to discharge itself.

Good thinking. We will try again when the Rav is parked in a good AT&T signal area.

Bay Area dealers willing to negotiate

Don't feel bad. The first '12 Rav4EV I got on Nov 11 has 0 dealer discount. I only managed to get two traveler mugs.

Bay Area dealers willing to negotiate

My neighbor got one from Toyota 101 (Bay Area) with $2780 dealer discount, in additions to the $6000 and 0.0% 60 months incentives.

    200 Mile Club (321.9km) & 300km Club (186.4 mile)

Great thread! I just found you! For environmental reason, I only go out if I "have to". I like challenges so I am going to set a radar in google map to see what's happening at the edge of the 200 mile radius from my home. If I find something good, I will try the 200 mile challenge. I will...

"Charge Now" feature on EnTune does not work for us. Does it work for any one? Knowing the charge timer doesn't work, Darren purposely set the timer at 7am for a designation time of 5pm, he then plugged in the J connector and noted the estimated "time start" (9:30am) on the dash. He then...

Here is the details. Basically, the thermo control is installed in the Rav4EV's inlet to control and prevent overheating by faulty J-plug (especially the one in Blink). It doesn't come with the Rav and Toyota does not offer it as an option. You either have to do it yourself or contact...

ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

After talking to my son who is driving the Rav today, he used the department timer and set it to end at 5pm (I forgot to tell him that everyone is having problem with Rav's timer). Therefore, I have concluded the charging failure is "timer" related, like everyone else.

Tony and SeaMonster: What are the EVSEs you are using? I was using ChargePoint. Also, were both of your charges a timer charge (via departure time programing)? Were they extended charge or normal charge? Lastly, does your inlets has the thermo control upgrade (mine does).
