    Solar Panel Discussion

I have a 15.4kW Sunpower system. It's a lease, but I bought out the lease up front, and I can buy the whole system at year 7 for around $1,200. It ended up being way cheaper than purchasing the system outright, and it means we don't take care of the maintenance. We have two Sunpower-branded...

How many people have had zero problems with their Rav EV?

I forgot to mention, I'm also on the original firmware. Even if I could easily get the update, I probably wouldn't. I'm in the, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," camp at this point.

How many people have had zero problems with their Rav EV?

I've thought a couple times that I was having problems, but they were driver error, except for the charging timer. So far, no issues, and I'm glad since I don't want to flatbed the car to Palm Springs for repair. Keeping fingers crossed until we can get Model S. 22k mi so far.

    Introduction and Battery Question

Normal depends on your driving style. It factors in how you drove it before to give you range numbers. I get about 110-119 miles on an 80% charge, less in winter and summer. I run AC on EcoHi in summer, and it keeps up fine even in Phoenix, but dings me about 7-8 mi. No worries about...

    Potential IL buyer

We have 20k miles on ours with no problem, and we are in AZ. That said, I would probably buy the new Mercedes B-class now that I know they have a 36kW battery. That's nearly as big as the RAV, and the interior is way better. Plus, you can get it serviced where you live, no fighting, no...

    New to the EV world

The only drawback is the lack of standard quick charging, so driving long distances is pretty much out unless you have Tony Williams retrofit it with Chademo. I think the car will sell itself when you take a test drive. We have 20k miles and would buy another if it had QC. The rav4 really has...

Rav4 EV for sale, POST HERE ONLY

Anyone looking for a RAV4EV in Phoenix? If so, today is a lucky day, as one just went up for sale, and it's not mine! http://www.usedvwaudi.com/web/used/Toyota-RAV4-EV-2012-Tempe-Arizona/14227262/ It's a little pricey, but hey, you don't have to ship it here, so that's $600 in your pocket...

We are number 2: How fast are those electric cars.

Make your next project a 4wd retrofit and new firmware to unlock acceleration:) I saw one of the beta cars at an EV gathering here, but more interesting than acceleration was the fact that the engineer driving it said they had no appreciable loss of range in the years they've had it here in...

We are number 2: How fast are those electric cars.

The RAV seems significantly faster off the line than the i3. I test drove an i3 and floored it off the line several times, but it seemed there was a moment of lag in the car I was driving. It was part of the fleet of testers they were carrying around, so it could be that one car, but I'm much...

Why did Toyota build Rav4 EV? Why hydrogen after 2014 ?

I'm curious, will Toyota let lthose who are leasing buy the car at the end of the lease, or are they taking them back for the crusher? I know the fuel cells are lease only.

Why did Toyota build Rav4 EV? Why hydrogen after 2014 ?

Toyota can make 9 credits for hydrogen car, 3 for electric, in CA, so despite the absurd cost of the platinum in the car, it's still cheaper for them to pretend hydrogen cars are viable and dump Tesla's battery/motor. They will get government grants to build a few more hydrogen stations, make...

    Anyone in Phoenix?

The other great thing about the RAV in Phoenix is turning on the AC before you get in your car using the Entunes app. It takes a bit of practice to remember, but when it's 115 outside, nothing is better than entering a pre-conditioned car. Even in the middle of summer, we almost always use eco...

    Battery Cooling for Summer

I would venture to guess that no one has a garage as hot as mine on the forum (often 110 degrees in mid-summer). I plug mine into a household socket as soon as it rolls into garage and supplement as necessary with the L2 charger i do this when the overnight temps reach 95-100 in the garage. So...

    Underside Protection

It would take a large object to reach up and punch a hole in the battery on our car. That said, I nearly ran over a wheelbarrow on the highway last year in my wife's RAV, so it's unlikely, but still possible to hit something that would damage the battery. I wouldn't mind a bit of extra...

Planning for another EV - Charging /EVSE question

We've been fine with just one EVSE. We're a year into our two Plug-in household and no issues so far. I charge my wife's RAV at night and then I charge my Volt during the day. Not everyone can do that, but works great for us, and saves a lot of money on wiring and a new EVSE. You can also...

Rav4 EV for sale, POST HERE ONLY

A Connect owner! Always been curious about that vehicle. Love the Euro styling of the van and the analogue gauge for remaining charge, but wondered what kind of real world range they get. Enjoy the RAV.

Out of state Tesla firmware upgrade

Not sure which thread it's in, but one of the members had the regional roving tech do it, as they were able to temporarily secure the tesla cable. Be prepared to argue, and best of luck. I'm 15k miles in with no firmware upgrade, and I'm functioning by the "if it ain't broke don't fix it"...

Tesla battery shows no sign of range loss after 20K miles

I talked with a Toyota engineer from the proving ground here and he was driving one of the RAV4 EV beta cars. He said they had noticed no loss of range either, and that's here in Phoenix. That's anecdotal, of course, but we haven't noticed any dropoff either, except for the week my wife was...

Why did Toyota build Rav4 EV? Why hydrogen after 2014 ?

Toyota is barely committed to the car in California, so incredibly doubtful it will ever see the light of day anywhere else. If you don't have people stampeding your showroom for a Tesla-powered SUV for well under $50k, you have a problem, and Toyota is obviously more interested in shooting...
