ALL POSTS - Heater Failed - Service Bulletin TSB 0111-14

If you are saying the AUX power only monitors 12V loads, what would cause 1kW to be drawn from the 12V system?

    Subzero Weather

thanks for that report eplantz. It dipped down to the 20s here in Austin. I've been using the 5 timers in RAVCHARGE to pre-condition the car one time every hour during the night (i.e. 15 min every hour starting at 1am, 2am, 3am, etc.). I also have use the pre-condition timers in the car to...

ALL POSTS - Heater Failed - Service Bulletin TSB 0111-14

Waidy, that's great! When you put yours on MAX HEAT, what is the most kW that you see being drawn by watching the AUX Power meter? Mine never gets over 1kW. I'm wondering if this is normal.

Highest mileage Rav4 out there ?

I'm at 18k, with a 60 mile daily commute, on track for 23k/year.

    Hypermiling "bragging rights"

You can turn off the eco light (all the time). The instructions are in your owners manual.

    Vampire Power Drain?

Tony, do you know if the battery thermal system is engaged when Pre-climate control is activated?

ALL POSTS - Heater Failed - Service Bulletin TSB 0111-14

It's down to 37F in Austin this week. Cranked up the heater to HI and saw about 3kW on the Aux Power display. Not the 6kW like I had expected but it is at least providing sufficient heat. I notice that the range is knocked down about 20% (not just by GOM but by driving it 70 miles to see the...

Dealers who will service the RAV4EV not in CA

I would like to know their justification for excluding out of state owners from the Toyota Care Program. You do not need any special training to rotate the tires.

Buying a Rav4 outside of CA

I haven't been back for my 15k mile normal service (they quoted me $89.99 for "health check" and tire rotation), so I don't know. Car is running strong and I haven't had any issues. Just crossed 16k miles on the odometer.

40 amp portable and adjustable open EVSE for $500

Yeah, I know what you mean. That would be pretty cool - it's just a question of whether it would be easier to add the necessary relays and stuff to make it work inside the box or just go with a self-contained unit like I linked to. The other advantage of a self-contained unit is you can plug...

40 amp portable and adjustable open EVSE for $500

Actually, I was just thinking of adding the socket to the side of the box. http://modularevpower.com/Coupler%202.htm Which would also act as a plug holder while not being used.

40 amp portable and adjustable open EVSE for $500

Cool FoolJoe. The only feature that would make it better would be to add a J1772 receptacle to the side to make it a pass through device (a.k.a. charging station extension cord). Since you already are carrying around 10-20 ft of cord, it would be nice to use it in a pinch to extend a cord that...

Dealers who will service the RAV4EV not in CA

Mike, my dealer too treated me very well and were extremely interested in the RAV4EV and wanted to do everything possible to service the vehicle and keep me happy. They even let me know when a Toyota Field Guy was going to be in town with Tesla Diag equipment to be able to update my software...

Dealers who will service the RAV4EV not in CA

Mike, are they providing those services free of charger under the Toyota Car Care program? Mine did until Toyota Corporate denied their claims for the tire rotation and "health" checks they performed. At least I got two free tire rotations out of it, but my dealer said they would have to start...

    Dismantling Document / Battery Removal

Although I'm sure Tony already has this memorized, I thought other tinkerers might like to keep it on file as well. RAV4 EV ELECTRIC VEHICLE DISMANTLING MANUAL https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/staticcontent/en/techinfo/html/prelogin/docs/rav4evdisman2nd.pdf

RavCharge, a solution to charge timer and entune woes

These numbers work out the same as my previous post if one assumes a 3.6V/2.9Ah cell (like the ones I am testing). The only difference being the upper and lower keep out areas are smaller (2.2 to 2.5kwh at the top end and 1 to 1.5kWh at the lower SOC). I can't wait to definitively find out...

RavCharge, a solution to charge timer and entune woes

No one yet has definitively determined the capacity/SOC relationship yet. This is what I used when setting up my cycle life testing. Assuming 3.6V and 3.1Ah per cell, and 4494 total cells in the pack, offers 50.1 kWh of total capacity. Charging to 4.15V/cell, allows approximately 92% of total...

RavCharge, a solution to charge timer and entune woes

Fooljoe, just to let you know I did another ext charge after lunch (using 208V/30A). RavCharge said it would take 1:18 minutes to top it off, which coincided perfectly with what entune emails (start and stop) verified. Nice going.

RavCharge, a solution to charge timer and entune woes

I assume Dsinned has a correction factor installed on the graph viewer as well. This explains the 8kW output using a 7.7kW charger. As for the start/stop times vs Entune's email, yes, there is a lag time but I don't remember by how much. Will have to run a test. I'm thinking only 1-2 minutes.
