Headed to the Toyota dealership..appreciate your feedback!

I love my car even though I have been inconvenienced by the bug mentioned above.

Will Toyota Cancel the Rav4 EV before producing 2600 ?

Great analysis Tony. The Smart ED has been selling since May and gets either Mercedes or Daimler credits. There has be a lot of discussion on the Tesla Motors Club about how much selling those credits helps the bottom line of Tesla. My understanding is unless a company buys ZEV credits they...

ClipperCreek LCS-25 on Sale for only $495

I have one and I love it. Like my RAV, I bought them both 2 months before their prices dropped. Grrrrr....

    Steering Lock Active

I started a new thread for this but it could also be a subset of the Check Engine Light discussion. Several times over the past three weeks I have tried to start the car but can not get it in gear, and the right side drivers display reads, "Steering Lock Active". I have cleared this by several...

How much do you pay in electricity to charge your car

The cynicism has some history. Twenty years ago I was President of a local chamber of commerce and as such was identified as one of many community leaders by SCE. We were given tours of their facilities, including several days in the Sierras inspecting their hydroelectric facilities and many...

Well, a lot of good deregulation did us in California. LOL

How much do you pay in electricity to charge your car

Thanks for pointing that out earlier, it was a concept that I did not initially understand, until your spreadsheet made it clearer. I hope others can benefit from this sharing of information. It is truly the great thing about being part of a forum like this. In a larger sense Solar could be a...

Convince me to buy this car over a LEAF

I assume you mean no more engines are air cooled. Technically the modern day cooling system uses a fluid to take the heat away from the engine and then move it to the radiator which uses air to cool the fluid in the radiator. Technically we have a superior product in the RAV because the...

How much do you pay in electricity to charge your car

An update to the earlier thoughts on this thread for me. I added a Kilowatt of additional solar panels using microinverters. I also went to the SCE TOU EV rate and it became effective July 8th. I can already see a difference on my month to date charges. Thanks to Miimura's chart I figured how...

Melted charging pins on nozzle @home on 30A Schneider chargr

I have the same unit but mine was manufactured before the recall date. It is the same connection but mine looks healthy. I would post a pic but I am having trouble with my photo links to Picasa. If you think that is a lame connections you should see the tiny wires that go through a current...

Yes, and an additional 70 miles of range only costs $10,000 extra.

    RAV4 EV 2014 update?

Yes fast charging and/or greater range would be very attractive. That would be good news for EV drivers, but there are other threads on this forum that suggest Toyota is committed to Hydrogen and that the RAV4EV is a lame duck. I hope not.

    Multiple onboard chargers

Yes I think you are correct. I initially figured you could get 100 miles of range on 30kWhrs. I have seen LiFePo batteries for as low as $0.35 per watt so I figured $0.50per watt for batteries, battery boxes, additional charger and cable. The problem with my initial math was that in order to...

Wow, I would be up for something like that.

When to get EVSE - before or after taking delivery

I don't know of any other reason. But let me add that compliance with codes is important because if you have a fire and your insurance company finds it is somehow related to a non code installation then they can deny coverage. That is a huge downside.

    Multiple onboard chargers

Let me ask a slightly different question which I have thought about since you raised this issue. If you could add 100 miles of range for $15,000, would you rather do that or spend $12,000 for fast charging?

And, in some localities the building permit fees are waived for an EVSE.

Dianne is a knowledgeble sales person at Carson Toyota in Southern California. I found an email for her but do a search and you will find some of her posts and other contact information. Dianne Whitmire <[email protected]> I wish I had purchased mine from her and several others have had good...

Is there room for a current clamp? I would love get a current clamp in there somewhere and have an Amps and Amphours readout.

    Check EV System warning message

Kevin Spillane at Toyota Corporate contacted me a while ago and I think I remember that he contacted several others. I haven't had the issue often enough for it to be high on my priority list yet. Another name is Sheldon Brown who I think is in Detroit. Someone who was on one of the focus groups...
