    Tesla model S UMC with J1772 & JESLA(tm) conversion

Tony, is that because Tesla uses resistor/and or diodes to ground in the adapters to set the amperage called for by the UMC?

    RAV4 EV Customer Disclosure Form

One of the ways that Tesla has managed the pack construction is to have a large number of cells in parallel. This strategy should mitigate against what we observe in a laptop pack which consists of single cells in series. In the laptop example if one cell in a series string goes back the whole...

ALL POSTS Charging Sounds, Buzzing when Charging, Noises

Yes, I am in Hermosa Beach. I have a few favorite restaurants in Gardena. Lunch or coffee sometime next week? I know another RAV4EV owner who might also be interested in comparing sounds. PM me.

    BLINK NETWORK (Ecotality) Possible Bankruptcy

I honestly don't know. I can't poll them like I can the Charge Point EVSEs so I can't easily find out. In only one case did I need the charge to get home and it was at the Blink for 4 hours and I got more than the 30 miles I needed to get home.

ALL POSTS-No Motor Power/Power Steering, turned off on road

I have had the Check EV System three times but two of them were when I started the car and not while the car was moving. One time might have been when I was driving but it did not disable the car in any way. I took the car into the dealer almost immediately and they saw the trouble codes. I...

    BLINK NETWORK (Ecotality) Possible Bankruptcy

Yes, I do too. I have a Blink Card and found some of their EVSEs to be conveniently located. It wouldn't be too hard for someone like Charge Point to make a deal to swap out the blinks for Coulomb EVSEs since the infrastructure is already there. I go to meetings several times a month in Carson...

    Tires, brakes, and suspension upgrades

Are you using Sport mode? If so I would try regular mode. LOL I have enjoyed a few informal drag races in Sport mode myself. I have to exercise extreme self control not to use Sport mode and to focus on keeping my miles per kW high.

    Steering Lock Active

The service guy called today and my car is ready. I got a text two days ago from Entune that my car successfully completed charging so I expected a call soon after. The service rep said that the steering lock active message did not show up as a trouble code so all they could do was reflash to...

    PG&E Rates - Solar E-6 vs EV-A

They have had over a hundred years experience as a regulated public utility and they do have responsibilities to provide a return to their shareholders. My cynicism is showing. LOL

    Hypermiling "bragging rights"

I look at Entune occasionally and my handle is Toy Tesla which goes with my license plate of "TOY TSLA" but I can't claim any bragging rights. Apparently there is another "toytesla" who made it to the top ten. A friend texted me to congratulate me for making it to the top ten. Alas, but for a...

    REFUEL Results at Laguna Seca

The concepts are different for EVs from ICEs. In an ICE you get torque at the wheels by using gears. You can make an analogy between the inverter in an EV and the transmission in an ICE. Because the torque of our electric motors is delivered more evenly on the RPM range we don't need a...

    PG&E Rates - Solar E-6 vs EV-A

I am on SCE but my question is conceptual and probably relevant to California. Because I am generating during the peak rates and shifting usage to the super peak rates I expect to have a net negative dollars but a positive net consumption in kWhrs. Given the above assumption about true up, will...

    REFUEL Results at Laguna Seca

I assume, when you say HW you mean hardware? I thought I read somewhere that the difference is in the inverter, and that may be the only hardware change. The motor may be the same. The inverter differences may also include software changes that raises the current draw of the inverter. In fact, a...

TSB 82-15 - Charge timer intermittent issues

I have a home built timer that I use with my EVSE. I assume that from the vehicle point of view it comes on just like the ones with an EVSE initiated timer. My question is, has anyone experienced this issue? I haven't experienced it, but my timer is only a few weeks old and only been through a...

    Steering Lock Active

My dealer still hasn't figured it out yet. Tomorrow will be a week since I dropped it off I did get a status call and then an email from Entune that my car failed to charge.

Just to be clear, the California credit is actually a cash rebate.

ClipperCreek LCS-25 on Sale for only $495

Yes you can. I couldn't find any 25 Amp circuit breakers for my panel. I had already pulled #8 wire earlier when I thought I could install a 40 Amp circuit, so I just installed a 30 Amp breaker with oversize wire. The wire size for a 25 or 30 Amp is #10

ClipperCreek LCS-25 on Sale for only $495

Yes it charges at a solid 20 Amps so you need a 30 Amp circuit. I gave up on the car time anyway. I am now on a TOU DTEV rate, so I try to only charge between midnite and 6AM when my rate is $0.09per kWhr. I built an external timer for less than $50 which works flawlessly.

Will Toyota Cancel the Rav4 EV before producing 2600 ?

I thought I read that they were going to cancel production. Is that still an unconfirmed rumor or did I misunderstand?
