2014 RAV4 EV & Siemens Versicharge not working

Check the voltage on your 12v battery first. Mine failed to charge due to the gateway computer went bad. Would charge sometimes and always fine at the dealer until it quit completely. Had other symptoms such as the dash not displaying correctly as the door opened or during shut down. So not...

Still worth buying without extended warranty?

I plan to own mine for a while with NO Toyota warranty. You should still have a factory drivetrain warranty for 60 months 60,000 miles. If you encounter trouble early you can still get most fixed under warranty and trade it off if you feel it may repeat. But honestly most repairs seem to get...

Still worth buying without extended warranty?

I recommend taking a RAV4-EV owner with you for a test drive. At least make sure everything works. Check the Heater works. Display reads correctly during all phases of turning on, driving, charging and shutting down. No clunking sound from the transaxle. No gear noise from transaxle. Verify...

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Funny, I never opened that box. My description was right I just assumed it was inside. "Power Management System" #24 listed in the manual.

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

I assume you read my thread on 12v battery drain issues. http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1775 Now that the computer is replaced mine drops to less than 50 milliamps within 3 to 5 minutes. Was a solid 2 amps when malfunctioning. PM-B looks like passenger side fuse box #24...

Longer Range Battery / Extra battery

I would be far more interested if the car was more reliable. Or lower cost to repair what does fail. Really be nice to have a higher density OEM battery with 60 kWh. Then another 20 in the trunk with Jdemo and the rest of the J adapters this car would be unbelievable. The money spent could just...

Tricking the system into full regen /wo brake blending?

A light touch does seem to max out the regen pretty fast in B mode. I doubt there is much more to gain in the scheme of things. Seems well balanced to me and allows the right foot to relax a bit instead of constantly feathering to get the right braking. Just let it coast a bit and stop...

Who is currently waiting for a drive unit replacement?

I keep thinking about it. Slow speed whine is somewhat annoying and I can hear it creeping into the higher speeds. At 37,000 miles and no extended warranty I think I may wait to be closer to the standard 60K driveline warranty expiration. Hate to replace it now and have it come back in 25,000...

What can I do at home if I got the Check EV System error?

I would drive it a week+ with the light on before I took it in. Dealers do not know anything about this vehicle in my experience. All they do is connect to the computer and call Tesla and/or Toyota engineer. All the "training" was just for safety issues. JMHO. If the light is out you are good...

New MX /w Folding Bench: Where does that leave our RAV4 EV?

I am loathe to buy any GM product. Ford has nothing interesting. Very sour on Nissan after being one of the first to drive a LEAF. Really thought Toyota/Tesla would provide some magic but it has been fleeting. Just hoping my RAV makes it to 2018 or beyond. The simplicity of an EV seems to be...

New MX /w Folding Bench: Where does that leave our RAV4 EV?

I was going to buy the electric Volt.... then GM puts gasoline in it. Then I really had my heart set on the X.... by the time 4WD only was announced I realized it had too many features. Rear doors confirmed this. Maybe a fully basic Model 3..... still open. RAV4-EV is great but I cannot...

Preferred Dealers for Repairs / Warranty

Carson was very bad for me. Do you remember my thread on excessive drain on the 12v battery? Carson would do NO diagnostics until they replaced the brand new Bosch AGM 12v battery with a flimsy Toyota model. $209.70 later and Carson declares my vehicle fixed. It was not. New gateway computer...

    Lease Buyout Experience

I have NEVER had a dealer experience that was good. Purchase, service, any of it. ALWAYS some bs nonsense, upsell, hardball, excessive service, complete lies, shoddy work, or just being morons. Carson Toyota that sold so many RAV4-EVs is most certainly included. If I can do anything to stay out...

Have LEAF -- want RAV4 EV

Don't count on a rebuilt pack costing less than a new Model 3.

Any get 132 miles using the freeway?

I have recently driven 135 miles on the freeway at 60 mph, cruise control, eco-high air conditioning for 50%. This was a loop so not much elevation effect. I have 35,000 on my RAV. I think 5 or 6 miles remaining showed at the end.

Have LEAF -- want RAV4 EV

RAV4-EV is a great car when it is running. I would not exactly say it is trouble free. Dealer service is lacking IMO. Poor general support from Toyota. Parts and service are astronomically expensive and limited availability. Can't really recommend the car unless you have a second vehicle...
