I seem to recall that the relay spec sheet said it could carry 40A. It just can not switch it. As long as there is no error the relay is fine.

That will work. In the first menu item select L2 instead of auto. In the second menu select 20A. The only downside is strictly cosmetic. The display will say L2.

An EV charger is a square wave load with an input filter to approximate a sine wave. Peak reading clamp ons read close but spend a little bit more and get a true RMS unit. My Leaf at full power is a fairly good sine wave. at half power it is a triangle wavw with rounded points.

Watch the high current connectors. I have personally had a lot of failures. Where the connectors shine is for repeated temporary use. I find that they have good wiping action but poor gas tight connections. I no longer use them even though they are the defacto ham standard.
