Re: Probable Gateway ECU Failure -- Read On

The warranty should have a provision for a rental car. Have the dealer set it up for you.

Re: Looking to purchase a RAV 4 EV, look up VIN

Someone on here created a database of VIN #s and information. I've not been involved past logging my car a few years back, but if you search, you may find it and get more info for your VIN. Also, Toyota service should be able to provide a service history for the car based on the VIN, and you can fin...

Re: Android car radio install?

This forum is for the Rav4EV which is based on the 2012 model year, and was sold only 2012 - 2014. So you probably need to find a forum for the gas Rav4 that will be better suited to your body and electrical configuration.

Re: 12v car battery monitor?

...I have also bought some equipment so that I can put some power from my car into my Powerwalls should I experience an extended power outage during the winter when my solar is generating very little. I basically want to be able to pull 500W from the car into the house with a grid tied inverter so ...

Re: Portable solar trickle charger

So you would need a minimum of 720 watts AFTER conversion available to the car (so only when sun is high, like 1am to 1pm, or maybe 2 kW of panels so it works most of the day), inverter to convert to 120 VAC, then provide the signal telling the car how much power is available. So at least 3 but prob...

Re: Only charges up to 56 miles

Actually I am consistently amazed how accurate the GOM actually is. Not perfect but how could it know future driving habits and conditions? GOM works very well for me. Same here, as long as daily driving habits are similar the GOM creates a very good estimate, especially if you use a significant am...

Re: Only charges up to 56 miles

I can typically go two days without charging. But I have definitely run into no miles for unexpected errands, so I charge everyday. If I charge extended I try to drive it shortly after so it doesn't sit with over 80% charge over the weekend or similar.

Re: battery coolant flush. DIY

When the dealer replaced my drive unit, they did not flush the air and I go battery overheating messages the next day. When I took it back, the reservoir was empty. They just topped it off and it's been fine ever since (over a year). I don't think you need to "flush the air," just keep ext...

Re: Any input on Tow Hitch Brands? I hear CURT is really goo

The tongue weights are probably similar to the ICE versions, I would check the 2012 Sport model as that is most similar to our EV. Many people here use the RAV for towing, but be aware of the max GVWR. The Rav 4 EV has an extremely limited payload capacity due to the weight of the batteries. If you ...
