    RAV4 EV for Sale

Back in October 2012 I bought one of the first RAV4's off the line. My VIN is 1086. I currently have 36200 miles on it (I only drive to work every day and that is about 15-20 mi RT). It is still under the original Platinum warranty (Until Oct. 2018) with a 75000 mile limit. The only major...

Buying a RAV4 EV in Seattle

Tony: I may be a bit behind the times, but I don't remember getting a notice about a traction motor recall. I have received notices about the seatbelt and the wiper recalls but that's it. A search of this blog for the words "traction motor recall" only shows this discussion. Do you have any...

What I don't understand is: The State of California knows that I own EV's - my car is registered here PG&E knows I own EV's - I have an EV-A account Why did I have to hear this from Tony and not get a notice with my last bill? (or maybe I did ,,, I usually throw all the excess wasted notices...

    Has anyone replaced their wipers?

According to the Bosch website, they carry 12 different lines of wiper blades that will fit the RAV. Is the ICON the best (they do list it first). They also list two different rear blades that will fit, the H307 and the R1216. Any experience with these?

    Has anyone replaced their wipers?

My RAV is now 4 years old and the windshield wipers are beginning to streak. Has anyone found a good replacement or should I go to Toyota?

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

Jason: Its really too early for me to give an opinion as I just had them put on a week ago. They seem quieter and better handling but that is subjective and maybe wishful thinking. The miles/kWh seems less, but that is hard to tell as I have been running my AC almost continuously for the past...

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

Costco.com currently has a sale on Bridgestone Tires with a $130 discount if you are an Executive member. You have to order online, offer is not good in a store. They will ship to the Costco store of your choice (shipping is free) and the tires will be installed. You may have to pay $12 at...

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

Thanks Tony. Unfortunately the people in Sacramento are wiser than us  and wont allow that model to be sold in California. The replacement according to Amazon is : Battery Tender 022-0185G-dl-wh Black 12 Volt 1.25 Amp Plus Battery Charger/Maintainer Is that also a recommended unit? Mike

EXCESS 12v LOAD WHEN OFF - DRAINING 12 VOLT BATTERY

A distressing situation. This brings up the subject of proper long term storage of the RAV4. Later this year, I will be away for 3-4 weeks and the RAV will sit in my garage for that time. Should I: 1. Do nothing - It has survived 2 week absences in the past with no trouble 2. Hook up a...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

That station at least makes some sense. It is 65 miles from Bakersfield, and the only DCFC here is at the Nissan Dealer. The next stop on the line is the Nissan Dealer in Visalia which is a ways off the CA-99 freeway. The next stop north is an NRG EVgo in Selma, about 30 miles from Tulare. I...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Tony: Unless you have business in Merced, you are probably taking CA-99 as a way of getting to Modesto, Stockton, or Sacramento, although some of those cities are more easily reached via I-5. I was obviously talking about the long distance traveler who would be driving the length of CA-99, not...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

I think you guys misunderstood my remarks about cost. Of course if a charger is in the middle of nowhere then caveat emptor. Merced isn't exactly the middle of nowhere. 10 miles down the road in Atwater is an eVgo station that will charge you at more than twice the rate for less than 1/3 the...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

The cost of these new units is ridiculous. They are charging $0.59/kWh plus a $2.95 connect fee. That is twice P.G.&E's highest rate, 2-3x the current cost of gasoline, and 3x NRG eVGo's highest rate. BTW, they also have a new unit in Merced. Last I saw, the Santa Nella unit was down.

Leviton Charger appears to have stopped working

I got my Leviton at the time I purchased my RAV4 in 2012. They had a deal, for $1500 they would install the charger. It quit working about a year ago. Leviton did repair it under warranty, but I had to wait for them to send me an empty box, ship my unit to them (at their cost), wait for it to...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Are we asking for too much? Many sites will be literally in the middle of nowhere and the chance of 480V 3-phase power being available is little to none. I remember a post from Tony some time ago when he said that we could obtain 480V from a combination of 240V, a bunch of used Tesla batteries...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

Tony: I think you are correct in your assessment of the manufacturer of the unit provided by Lloyd Tran. EV Express is the brand name of the unit from EVRUS EV Express is also the name of some different units provided by EV Centers of America The units from EV Centers of America look almost...

New California Corridor Fast Chargers Installed

I defer to Tom's wisdom and expertise. I too have seen how the press can totally screw up a story. I feel however that more has to be done than just preach to the choir on these blogs. If there is anything I can do (within my known limitations) let me know.
