Guinness World Record attempt: EV parade, Cupertino 9/20/14

And the final official total is: 507, for a new world record!

Guinness World Record attempt: EV parade, Cupertino 9/20/14

There are now at least 478! So close to the minimum number. Plus 39 ineligible plug-ins, and over 1200 people registered for the main rally. But before we get too excited, this is from Wes Lambert, president of EAASV: "We're not just trying to barely break the record, rather DISINTEGRATE IT...

Guinness World Record attempt: EV parade, Cupertino 9/20/14

The total is now 450, but if we remove the hybrids and range-extended EVs (which don't qualify for the Guinness record) then we're still at 410 I think, unless there are some surprise homemade creations in the "Other plug-in vehicle" category. 482 needed ftw.

Guinness World Record attempt: EV parade, Cupertino 9/20/14

We're now at 399 for the parade (and 880 attendees registered for the overall event). Where can we find at least 83 more EV owners to help? The stats are at the bottom of this page: https://driveelectricweek.org/event.php?eventid=162

Guinness World Record attempt: EV parade, Cupertino 9/20/14

I figure this deserves its own topic heading: we need to show up with our RAV4 EVs to help break the Guinness World Record for the largest parade of electric vehicles! Apparently the current record is 481 EVs by some Germans in Stuttgart, so we're shooting for 500. Pure EVs only, no plug-in...

    Check EV System warning message

Six month update: everything has been stable since Toyota replaced my ECU and updated it to the latest firmware. Previously I had been experiencing warning messages, charge scheduling issues, and even failures to start. Details here: http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=11713#p11713

Why did Toyota build Rav4 EV? Why hydrogen after 2014 ?

Apparently they've sold about 1,600, and will stop making the car when they hit 2,600. That is the minimum number of Tesla battery packs their contract with Tesla requires them to buy. Clearly nobody at Toyota except CEO Akio Toyoda has the long-term vision necessary to support electric cars. In...

    Latest firmware? Tesla-1.3.101, Nav-VB503200, GPS-6/1/13

I could be wrong, but I believe that is for the map updates only, which you can purchase from a Toyota dealer for something like $170. (That's more than the price for an entire new Garmin/TomTom/etc. dashboard GPS device, after which those companies will sell you updates for $50 each or $90...

    Latest firmware? Tesla-1.3.101, Nav-VB503200, GPS-6/1/13

The service report didn't include the number, but it is VB503150. That was two months ago though. Any idea what the differences between 3150 and 3200 are?

    Check EV System warning message

All, it's been a month since my my ECU replacement and firmware update, and that seems to have done the trick! I've done my best to surprise and confuse the software - just jiggling the stick shift during system startup used to do it - and I have not once seen "Check EV System" or any other...

    Check EV System warning message

I think all of you folks getting sent home from the dealer with just a firmware update should demand that your service advisors contact Toyota Corporate to confirm current policy. Insist on speaking to the service manager if necessary. Tell them customers of another dealer have been told the...

    Check EV System warning message

Picked it up from the dealer. So far so good. Here's the relevant section of the service report: They had told me that just getting a u1146 code would indicate they must replace the ECU, but apparently my old ECU wouldn't even allow them to proceed with the latest firmware update. They...

    Check EV System warning message

All those things have happened to me at least once. The only thing that never happened to me was a failure while driving, but apparently Toyota's policy is now that it's not worth the risk to let you keep driving after even non-moving errors arise. Plan on getting a new ECU. And, I have good...

    Check EV System warning message

That happened to me at least once. It sounds like an ECU communications glitch. If they decide your ECU must be replaced, they probably will not give the car back to you until that is done. It's a liability thing.

Thanks. The service adviser said mine could arrive within one week, but I always multiply statements like that by three. :-)

    Check EV System warning message

I've been holding off on taking mine in for updates until the dealer and the whole service chain had enough practice. Yeah. As if that's gonna happen. But I've been getting regular Check EV System warnings, and in some cases failures to start. Luckily it hasn't failed while driving, and most of...

    Check EV System warning message

I can now officially confirm that the 1.3.57 firmware update did not solve my RAV's problems. I got the SoD today, and last week the charging hung at the last ten percent again. I haven't had any repeats of the more serious charge scheduling failures, but that doesn't mean they won't happen too...

    Check EV System warning message

That's the software for the navigation/entertainment/communications system, not the power train and charging systems. I actually have an older Navigation version (VB503102), but everything else is the same.

    Check EV System warning message

Hope someone can tell us how, or offer a third-party tool for this, but at this time I don't think we're able to find the firmware version ourselves. Dealers uses special "scanners" to read versions, error codes, etc., and to flash in the updates. I got my version number off the dealer service...
