ALL POSTS about Charge Timer Failure

I'm in agreement with Dsinned, use RAVCharge for reliable start timing. It would be pretty sweet if fooljoe were able to work out a solution similar to the built-in timer function that calculated actual charge start times (based on selection of charge rate, SOC, and departure time) and picked...

    Surplus inventory of RAV4 EVs

From my experience with the RAV, I'd guess you will have almost no range anxiety within a few weeks. If you can, make sure you use the pre-climate settings when the weather is cold. I found only a small difference in GOM readings when using pre-climate effectively. Now for the important...

    Surplus inventory of RAV4 EVs

Red Stripe, I travel over many of the same roads as you and see about the same efficiency. The hills you have to go over and the wind directions are likely the issue. Unfortunately, the only alternate routes for your commute are not comparable in speed. After 18+ months of driving those hills...

Rav4EV as your only car? What else do you own?

In addition to the RAV, we have a PiP. If the Model 3 was out, we would likely have had only BEV.

MyEV, a third party EV logger and app

I voted for on-board storage. Who knows where cellular/data streaming/the company will be in 5-10 years.

MyEV, a third party EV logger and app

I'm in, too. Let's hope they get the RAV4 compatibility worked out!

    Post-25K service

I had a failed attempt to post the other day, hopefully this works. I just completed my 25K service and am curious what others are expecting for the next service interval. While there are no major services indicated for the RAV, it will still need tire rotations and the ever-critical fluid...

    Service after the 25K milestone

Has anyone taken their RAV in for service post-25K miles? I'm curious to know what price is being charged for these services. Also, ICE cars have periodic "large" services. I don't expect any such thing for the RAV, but I'm curious about service schedules that Toyota is recommending post-25K.

Planning to Buy or Lease This Year?

Nice one. I suspect most of us will be gone before then, too!

    Battery Degradation

Thanks for the great info! Here is some interesting cell test data, not strictly related to the RAV but shows the PD cell performance: http://www.dampfakkus.de/akkuvergleich.php?akku1=490&akku2=353&akku3=99&akku4=498&akku5=141&akku6=507

    Charging station vs JESLA

    1. I have a converted Tesla EVSE that I use from time to time. The unit does not "hang" well, the cord is a little short, and it is somewhat inefficient to roll it up and put back in it's bag after charging. The wall mounted EVSE that I have at home is much more convenient in terms of...

RavCharge, a solution to charge timer and entune woes

I've called the Entune Support line. Their recommendation was for me to take the vehicle to a service center for diagnosis. It makes no sense to me that the number of people reporting a problem would all have the same vehicle-related problem at the same time. I left the conversation feeling...

    Strange Charging Notification from Entune

I had a complete failure to charge last night. Today, I haven't been able to access the Charge Management feature in entune. Since I use RavCharge for my charging needs, I emailed fooljoe to see if RavCharge sent the start request (it probably did). This looks like an Entune-related issue...

Dealers for service in Bay Area

In the upper East Bay, Hilltop Toyota has done well by me. No experience at any of the peninsula/South Bay service centers.

Leviton 40 amp vs Siemen 30 amp

With the 50A circuit and if you are in the $800-1000 range, the Jesla EVSE is good for 40A and is portable. They are available as a completed kit from Tony's QuickCharge Power site or the OpenEVSE site. The 30A OpenEVSE kit is well priced if you are willing to invest some build/assembly time...

ALL POSTS-No Motor Power/Power Steering, turned off on road

Finally got the Rav back this afternoon. It is nice and silent again, and I'm sure glad to get away from the Matrix. Not much to report on the write-up that hasn't been reported already. The tech did say it took him nearly four hours to install all of the updates. That seemed odd to me, but...

ALL POSTS-No Motor Power/Power Steering, turned off on road

cwerdna, motor/inverter replacement. 10 hours turns out to be 4 days and counting. I got yelled at by a little old lady yesterday for taking too long at the gas pump refilling the Matrix. I recognized she was right and avoided telling her it was because I hadn't gassed up for over a year and...

ALL POSTS-No Motor Power/Power Steering, turned off on road

I took my RAV in for the same replacement after only 20K miles. I got a Matrix for a loaner, so I'm a little jealous! Fortunately, they only estimate the repair to take 10 hours, so only two days with the Matrix.

    "Downfall" Parody Involving Tesla Superchargers

Hilarious. Reminds me of similar parodies from the Favre era (Packers -> Vikings).
