Bay Area repair shop that can still work on RAV4EV?

I had my Rav4EV serviced at Folsom Lake Toyota a year ago. They replaced the motor. They also had a couple other Rav4EVs they were working on at the time. It was a good experience.

Who still owns a RAV4 EV?

I still own my pearl white 2014 Rav4-EV. 42K miles. Everything works great and I plan on keeping it for many more years.

    Still going?

My Rav4-EV is still going strong. 45K miles. Had the motor replaced right before my platinum warranty ran out last September. Being retired, it's a great around town car for me. The only other thing I replaced under warranty years ago was the on board charger. All in all, it's been a great...

Hello to the Remaining Rav4 EV Owners Out There

I got my car back pretty quickly and the drive unit install went well. It took the dealer several days to do the work. The remanufactured drive unit is very quiet. The Rev4-EV drives / sounds like new. I also had the battery coolant replaced. The overall experience with Folsom Toyota was...

Hello to the Remaining Rav4 EV Owners Out There

Just got a call and the motor / drive unit just arrived at my Toyota dealer. Less than a week after it was ordered. So much for the 6 week to 6 month estimate. Hopefully this motor has all the latest fixes. For all you folks in the Sacramento area, Folsom Toyota seems to have in house...

Hello to the Remaining Rav4 EV Owners Out There

Hi I purchased my Rev4-EV September of 2014 and it's been a great car. The only thing I had to replaced was the onboard charger at 3 years still under warranty. My extended Platinum warrantee ends soon so I took the Rav in for a quick checkup as the motor was making more noise. Toyota...

How long did you wait for a motor replacement?

I remember an early thread on this forum discussing this and if was noted that our motors are electromagnet motors that do not use permanent magnets. During acceleration it is normal to hear some whine caused by the current feeding the electro magnet. When starting out this noise is especially...

    Milling noise FIX

I believe the recommendation is to replace the coolants at 50K miles. I wonder if replacing the coolants sooner would better protect the seals from leaking? Perhaps water content in the coolant is causing the seals to fail. This issue seems to be 0ne 0f our biggest issue going forward...

Coolant issue? - all getting heated up on how/what to do

My 8yr/100K Toyota platinum warranty ends net year too. Is the warranty extension through Toyota offered automatically or do we need to search / ask for it? Also. is the 5yr/ 60K $2600 extended warranty the only option offered? Thanks

    Check EV system

Thanks, Great information. One more question. I added G48 coolant to the traction battery reservoir, not the motor coolant reservoir. Does that make any difference? I would think that the speed sensor would be part of the motor coolant system.

    Check EV system

I assume the speed sensor is located under the car. Any special tools required? Also, replacing the speed sensor (if wet) would not fix the problem of the internal leak, right? If the speed sensor isn't wet then why the drop of G48 coolant? I'm not sure what the next step would be. Sounds...

    Check EV system

I also got this error message the other day. I was able to clear the error by turning the car off and on 4 times. So far it seems fine so hoping for the best. I also noticed my G48 coolant was down some so I bought a gallon at NAPA and topped it off. My Rav4EV has been a great car (38K...

I don't remember anything about a traction motor recall on the 2014 Rav4EV. Does anyone else? thanks James

Lease Return? What would you do?

Interesting... I also have my lease ending Oct 1 so Iv'e been thinking a lot about returning versus purchasing. Just did the Tony battery test and the battery in fine (almost 100%). This has been a great car and only has 23K miles. Only issue was to replace the on board charger about six...

Preferred Dealers for Repairs / Warranty

Did you contact Hanlees in Davis? They replaced my motor back in April and didn't have a problem with the JdeMO. Service rep just asked me what it was and what it did. Didn't mentioned it again. ----------------------------------------- Thanks - I'll keep Hanlees in Davis in mind for future...

    charging failure

Hi l Just some followup on my charging failure. Turned out to be the on board charger. Took it is to Walnut Creek Toyota and they replaced it - Took about a week to order and receive it from Tesla. Not too bad... It's good to have the Rav back I also took Tony's advice and got a new Bosch...

    charging failure

Hi, Today I plugged my 2014 Rav4 EV (with 21K miles) into my Leviton charger and the charger keeps shutting off. Tried the OEM 110V charger and that one is shutting down as well. The Leviton charger seems fine as it's charging the Volt without any issues. I still have the original 12v...
