FYI I will be returning my lease of #2851 in Jan 2018. I'm on a 6 month lease extension, so the current payoff is around $15,800 (Dec'17). Will be going back to Auburn CA. Has 67K miles and a 7 year 125K mile platinum warranty.
Only issue was that the internal charger was replaced early on...
Finally got my car back. They updated the Gateway ECM firmware to EG1400.
It did charge properly last night on timer charge, so here's hoping there are no further issues.
I did get one piece of advice if there are problems with failed charging:
Sounds like this resets the charger back to...
If I look at August 1st through Feb 11th, then EV is slightly cheaper by about $100, but the cost for E6 is now $1637 for 6 months. So I'm missing the peak generation period of Apr thru July when I get all my on-peak credits.
I'm interested to see what a full year with EV charging will look...
Here's my PG&E Toolkit analysis. I've only had an EV for 6 months so that might make a difference.
I've charged for 9000+ miles.
I also have a large solar array generating 23500 kWh last year and using an additional 6300 kWh (see sig.). So I use lots of power also. Currently E6 is best for...
Depending on you're driving habits you'll probably find you do many more miles in an EV!
50K miles doesn't seem that much, I would get a 125K warranty through Toyota. If anything electronic fails it will be an expensive repair.
So I got the EV back on Friday, ... and it's going back to the dealer today (Tuesday).
It charged fine the first time with immediate charging.
It failed on the 2nd charge with a timer charge.
I tried immediate charging again and it worked.
Last night I setup a timer charge again and nothing...
A couple of interesting points from the afternoon sessions:
1) Several people spoke about the need for more L1 charging points at places like airports/hotels and having many of them for longer term charging.
2) The need for a DCFC that cost $10K to increase the economics for widespread...
As an engineer whenever to are trying to find a weird bug, you try to eliminate anything non-standard from the system, even trivial things. So I understand why Tesla asked to remove it, even if it should have no influence.
So the EV is still at the dealer. I can tell from entune that they got the car to charge, but not at the full 40A rate.
Tesla had them download the entire car history and send it to them. Now they are making them disassemble most of the car to check the connection between the charger and the...
If it was inexpensive (around $500) I would consider getting a second EVSE @ 40 amps to keep in the car.
That would give you a larger market of existing owners.
Got the "Charging Stopped by System Malfunction" this morning.
Replugging the cord in gave no lights. Had no other issues in the last 5 months and 9000+ miles.
Had enough range to drive to the dealer.
Currently waiting for diagnosis. I'm getting lots of Entune emails with attempts to start...
