Does anyone have any recommendations for an installer in the Los Angeles area? I have a little sticker shock after seeing the quote from Leviton.

I'd like to install a L2 charger on a separately installed TOU meter. I believe this requires a separate service panel and a circuit that will need to run up through my roof to a new power line. The quote for this alone was $1300. On top of the $1300, Leviton charges for the installation of the charger which includes running of up to 100 feet 50A circuit to my garage, installing and furnishing 50A breaker, pulling the permits, installation and mounting of the charger (~$1800 includes charger).

The invoice showed $200 for the municipality permit. Is this really how much it costs to pull a permit?

I used C Toon Electric. The electrician's name is Cory. PM me if you want his contact info. He's a nice guy, and did a good job installing my EVSE. He's up in the Valley.

Also, I just want to be sure you're aware that if your utility is LADWP, you are entitled to a $2,000 rebate for the cost to install the EVSE. This should include the additional costs of the separate service panel. Here's the link for more info: https://www.ladwp.com/ladwp/faces/l...trl-state=z2nlht5ve_4&_afrLoop=92474619372000. Plus there's the federal EVSE tax credit of up to $1,000, if you qualify.

My permit cost was just under $100, although the cost might have gone up since I installed mine. You can actually get the permit yourself online at http://ladbs.org. Most electricians will charge you for their time if they need to get a permit pulled for you, so that might explain the $200 charge for the permit.
